Ok I'm pretty new to comics in general but after seeing Constantine im nearly obsessed and I would really like to read some of Hellblazer. Checking out Vertigo's website i found a sampler of Original Sins. to my dismay i can say that im not a fan of the animation style as it seemed to carry very little of the gothic feel that i was expecting. Am I doomed to be a movie fanboy that knows nothing deeper about the comic or are there different artists? Also I noticed very little of the religious over tones that I enjoyed so much from the film are those existent later in the series?

How is Keaneau Reeves gothic? Sure, he met Death in Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, but that hardly counts.
The Hellblazer comic is mostly about the blue-collar working man's magician. Sure, he deals with the devil, he deals with demons, he deals with voodoo, but he does it all in a very English, very "work through this 9-5 shite so that I can get home and sleep... hopefully with a woman" way.

CHeck out the Dangerous Habits trade.
Also look for stories by Garth Ennis and Mike Carey.

If you enjoyed the movie I'd suggest the "dangerous habits" trade as well.
