So I just finished perusing the June DC solicits and, after carefully wiping my chin, would like to know what everyone else is looking forward to this year in the comics world (I'm in love with Seven Soldiers, personally). What do you expect to float your boat? Birds of Prey? Lost Girls? Neverwhere? Ultimate Iron Man?
Tell me, tell me, do.

The various SEVEN SOLDIERS books. Oodles of Grant Morrison goodness there.
RUNAWAYS! People, buy it, buy two of every issue, just keep it afloat this time!
She-Hulk, ditto!
Seven Soldiers, I'm new but intrigued.
New Avengers, but if Finch doesn't speed up...
The Whedon Angel stuff for IDW, and AXM.
Livewires, just wanna see what happens.
Ultimates, THOR and LOKI!

Ultra- The Luna brothers really know how to make the time between issue unbearable.
BOP-My favorite book, so that's no surprising.
Astonishing X-Men- Whedon's dialouge and Cassady's art are a perfect combination.
Runaways-Always something to look foward to in the story.
Kabuki- good story and art, but the long time between issues is the real reason.

I can't wait for every single issue of Lucifer. Every single one. We're at Kindly Ones-esque stage now, and I can't wait.

Birds of Prey, I look forward to that every month.

Every issue of Y: the Last Man, Runaways and Green Lantern. The newest "season" of She-Hulk should be pretty darn swell, Neverwhere will be interesting, at the very least and the All-Star line from DC will hopefully kick all kinds of ass.

Besides my usual pull list, I'm really psyched for "The Rann/Thanagar War" :D

The Rann/Thanagar war
Villians United

Villians United, Birds of Prey, Astonishing X-Men, Phoenix Endsong, and the Bat-titles are among my top picks.
I'm really looking forward to see how the "Human Nature" storyline in Gotham Knights goes, I know it's not the most popular book on the forums but I think it's a good arc and it looks like it's going to take Ivy somewhere interesting. I just hope they don't kill her off.
I LOVE villian books, so obviously I can't WAIT for United.

Did anyone see the J.H. Williams/Seth Fisher LOTDK story solicited? Waiting for that is going to keep me up nights.

Cool. I'd be more up for it to see Williams doing the art, but it might still be good.
It's *always* good to see Williams and Johnson doing projects together, because it keeps alive the hope that we might get a CHASE relaunch someday.

I love Williams, too, but I haven't seen Fisher since Vertigopop: Tokyo and I've been in dire need of a fix. His superhero stuff always makes my day.

I would have to say Runaways. Thats really the only current series I'm into. Spider-man/Human Torch has also been a lot of fun thus far.
Seven Soldiers seems interesting, but the first issue of Shining Knight kind of turned me off— not really my cup of tea, and it seams to involve a big investment. That said, I will look into Klarion, the Witchboy.
However, since you mentioned solicits— there are several upcoming series that I really wish were on the stands this very second...
G.L.A by Dan Slott
The Defenders by Giffen/DeMatties
All-Star Superman by Morrison/Quitely
House of M by Bendis/Coppiel
She-Hulk (season 2) by Slott
Green Lantern by Johns/Pacheco
I'm also really looking forward to checking out DC Countdown, if just to see if DC can actually get me to be interested in their universe again. Usually with DCU titles I buy an issue or two and then realize "Wow. I really don't care." Its a shame, because I used to buy all the Bat-titles religiously as a kid. The first few years of LotDK brought me some very fond memories.

That's funny to me - I've been buying DC comics almost exclusively for years. If there's a really, really good Marvel book (Waid's Fantastic Four, NXM/Astonishing), I'll get it, but otherwise no.
It seems like they're almost two completely different markets.

Thanks to the tip off from these 'ere boards, I devoured the Runaways digests (to the point of buying them again for my mate Suz's birthday!) and flat out adored the first issue of the new series ... next Thursday for #2 and the reprint of #1 with the new cover. Whilst i'd ordinarily wait for the trades, i'm so invested in the characters I can't not [pick up the book - plus I want to support it enough that we get a Volume 3 sooner rather than later.
Thank you again to the folks who tipped the hat to the title, it's both very much appreciated and utterly adored! :)

I see Young Avengers (or 'Cheung Avengers' as I like to know it) is shipping with a Directors Cut of #1 and issue #2 tomorrow ... i'm a slave to Jimmy's art since his Crossgen days & I missed the first printing of #1 ... was it any good?!

I didn't have any expectations one way or another re: YOUNG AVENGERS, and was pleasantly surprised to find it a very fun and cool book. I'd recommend it. It has a lot more sense of fun than do a lot of the Marvel books (i.e., pretty much all of them other than FF and RUNAWAYS) these days.

Steve Englehart and Marshall Rogers' return to working on Batman actually has me anticipating a comic for the first time in YEARS.

Coolness. I'm not sure who it was who tipped you, but I know that me and a lot of other folk have been pushing the heck out of that book, and it's good to know people took us up on the recommendation and have been enjoying it.
In listing my "books I can't wait for", I didn't mention RUNAWAYS, CONAN or EX MACHINA, but that's because I already push them in my sig. I took it as a "duh" that I eagerly await each issue.

I've been getting much pickier about what books get my $$$ these past few years. Before Runaways, the only book I followed regularly was Morrison's New X-Men, and even then it was only when paired with Quitely (so as you can imagine, i LOVED the beginning of the run and then left a little cold and dissappointed).
I just have this desire to buy quality comics, and not series out of habit or even blind love for the characters (if it was only about the characters I would be following X-Men to this day, but I'm not). So it shouldn't surprise you to learn that usually I buy the trade. I sort of wait to see if it turns out to be a classic run. Then I'll check it out and see if it is entertaining, and most importantly RE-readable. For example, I never checked out League of Extraordinary Gentlemen as a series— put after checking out the tpb I'm totally in love with it and revisit it often.

Back after Busiek's big Kang story in AVENGERS, I was all for a ten-year moratorium on the character, but then YA actually came up with a new angle for him. It still might be too early for yet another Kang story, but the possibility didn't make me yawn or shudder for once.

Unlike, yet ANOTHER Magneto or Green Goblin story.

I'm definitely fine with a moratorium on both of them, too. Where do I sign that petition? In Marvel time, Norman Osborne was in prison, what, maybe a weekend? And I was extremely pissed when Magneto returned immediately after Morrison's run on NXM ended. That Maggie and Green Goblin stories at least have the advantage of not including all the time paradox headaches inherent in any Kang story.
I personally hope HOUSE OF M's events include Magneto being wiped from existence in the Marvel Universe. At this point, he's just a crutch that has supported dozens of weak X-Men stories for the past couple decades.
I'm also all for the Red Skull staying dead for a decade or so. Massively over-used character who stops seeming dangerous when he's a constant, overt story presence.

Honestly, Magneto shows up so often in the X-Universe I now consider him a regular cast member, not a "villain of the month". Norman Osborn is appoaching that status as well.
If you took away Kingpin, Magneto, Red Skull, Green Goblin and Dr. Doom away from the Marvel Universe there wouldn't be any conflict. Even Kang doesn't show up as often as those 5 characters. They really should just form a team and become the new Masters of Evil or something.
I've always held a belief that Marvel should come up with new, more threatening villains or strengthen the long list of lame ones they already have.

I remember you as a big plus point in my picking up the title sir - and as such, considering how much I adored and devoured the digests (enough for them to be a perfect present for my friend too - who also adored them!) - thank you deeply! :D
