So I pick up a new book, forgot which one as too Many Gogs and Lois wants a baby - and I think Supes says "I can fly across Galaxies at the speed of sound".

What did I read? - That would take about 8 trillion years.

Yeah. that was a mistake, I think. It clearly doesn't make any sense. Not even in comics.

You can't fly accross galaxies at the speed of sound. There is no sound in space! The speed of sound is completely dependent on the medium it is traveling through. Through rock it is a lot faster than through air for example.

You do know that the speed of sound is just that speed. Traveling at 750+ mps in space doesn't mean you can't go at the speed of sound because there is not sound. Speed of Sound is just the name given to 750 miles per hour or mach.
