If Marvel did a high profile series like "Seven Soldiers of Victory" with C to D-list heroes, who would you like to see on the team?
I'm seeing a Champions series with Sandman (the Spider-Man villain), Antman, Prestor John (actually introduced in a Lee-Kirby FF issue), but I can't think of any others right now.

It seems this thread exists in some form or another constantly. We all have favorite D list characters. Here are mine.
Paladin
Captain Ultra
Brother Voodoo
Madcap
Red Guardian
Pete Wisdom (you gotta represent the X-verse)
Firebird (is that the name, Mexican woman, Catholic... was in Avengers)
EDIT: I took out Moon Knight based on the observation posted below me and added Madcap, a cool character I had forgotten about.

I think the Shroud is an excellent choice. I would submit the cowboy version of Ghost Rider. Not sure who else I'd add but I like the idea of more obscure characters like Skull (late 70's comic), Madcap, Omega the unknown then say, Iron Fist or Moon Knight.

Weren't the Seven Soldier o' Victory either golden-age heroes or newer versions of golden-age heroes? If so, then I'd go with...
The Sub-Mariner
The original Human Torch
Captain America (or someone of similar likeness)
Union Jack
The Blazing Skull
....or, maybe not. A book like that might tank after twelve-or-so issues.

Jennifer Kale
Pete Wisdom
Firebird
Moon Knight
Valkyrie

One things folks should keep in mind is that, as with Seven Soldiers, the lineup (and I like "Champions" as the name for the Marvel equivalent; good thinking, Cyberman) would be pretty much completely reimagined, and bollocks to the old versions of the characters. (Which, as the early 7S stuff has shown, isn't necessarily a bad thing.)

Well someone needs to do a good Moon Knight, so if it's not Kirkman, some project like this might be the thing.

Everyone's got a mad-on for Moon Knight, which I find funny. :) It's also interesting, at least to me, that I'm far more aware of lower-tiered Marvel characters than DC ones, though maybe that's just because they all had their own titles back in the early 90s.

Right does anyone remember this Marvel team? Serious d-list. I came across a website years ago - encyclopaedia of Marvel by some fan - were there was mentioned a team from the seventies that featured a Skrull and one character who had emerged from lab experiments super fast/whatever - the catch was the character was obviously based on Timothy Leary/Merry Prankster type experiments. The entire team (I've forgotten the rest) get subsequently wiped. This ring any bells with anyone? Because that's really obscure!
This is what I like to see. There are tons of great C-list and lower characters out there that hardly anyone uses.
Bring on Moon Knight! Bring on Firebird! Bring on Arabian Knight (great choice SV, INC)! Heck, even bring on Squirrel Girl!

Joe Casey writer, if we can't get Grant Morrison:
Curse of the Scarecrow -- (Bill Seinciwicz) He's had like, three appearerances total, but his debut in Marvel Premier (Or one of them "Showcase" type books) was genuinely creepy, and had an interseting mythology behind it t' boot, with a living painting. A lowly janitor vanishes through the painting into the Scarecrow's world... Letting the Scarecrow run loose in his quest to destroy ultimate evil... And anything that gets in his way...
Dum Dum Dugan and His Howling Commandos -- (Mike Deodato) Call it a sci-fi/war book with Dum Dum leading a NEW team of Howlers against the invasion of... things.... from...somewhere. And Deodato *needs* to do at least one war comic before he dies.
Stegron the Dinosaur Man -- (Steve Bissette) Steggy searches for his true love... As his rampaging dinosaure hordes stomp Seattle into rubble!
The Blue Diamond -- (Adi Granov) College Professor and Elton T. Morrow has the Serpent Crown. Gangster Joe Gotsman wants the Serpent Crown. But Dirty Joe doesn't know that the seemingly harmless seventy year old man was once WW II era superhero the Blue Diamond! Of course, the Diamond doesn't want to reveal his true identity... And if possible, wants to fix it so that his secret alter-ego *Never* existed.
Kid Colt: Outlaw (Steve Dillon) -- The Kid has to stop his arch-enemy The Man in the Iron Mask from returning to The Place Where It All Began... And ending the world in the process. It's a mad chase across the plains of the old west, and eventually through both time... and space.
The Falcon and Redwing (John Romita Jr.) The Devil takes over the "Bow Wow Bakery and Pet Grooming Service" in Harlem, An' sets to work trying to end the world, corrupting neighborhood residents as his agents... And there's only one hero around to stop him... Special Guest Appearance by the Golden Age Falcon!
Mysterio (J. H. Williams III) -- Penny Ante supervillain receives a direct message from God, gving him a holy mission... He's the only man on earth who can teach the human race to change their perceptions so that they can function after... Well, God doesn't say after what, but this pathetic, bitter ex-stuntman is now the most important man on the planet! Can he handle the pressure or will he crack like an eggshell?
