I'm not sure if anyone has heard about this. You should have if you read BPRD. The advertisements have been inside. It sounds like a nice tpb one-shot mix between Sherlock Holmes and H.P. Lovecraft.

It was solicited for this month but so far no go. Things From Another World doesn't show it if you do a search, but I did find this pic via a google search. Work won't let me look at Dark Horse's website and I don't have time at home.

Anyone else anticipating this or hear about a delay/cancellation? Thx.

Yeah, I've been looking forward to this for awhile. Ever since i saw the first ad in a BPRD in Nov. Dec.? It was listed for January, then nothing in February, and lastly March 9th so I was planning on picking it up, but i suspected it wouldn't be at ye olde shoppe. Thanks for the heads-up Petriacce.

It's out now. I picked it up last Wednesday, but haven't had a chance to read it yet. Looks pretty cool, though.

BriscoThanks Brisco. The guy at the store said it wasn't out. Doh! That link at TFAW says it's already sold out. I'm hoping to grab a copy. I got some birthday money for comics and this is one I wanted to pick up.

My one housemate got a copy of it. I'm not finished as of yet, but both he and I agree that its not that great. The story is a bit lack luster, and while I love Ben Templesmith's cover for The Irregulars, I have yet to be won over by the interior artwork.

From the book's own synopsis, it claims to be a mix of sherlock holmes mystery mixed with Lovecraftian horror/suspense. IMO, Mignola's Hellboy as well as BPRD do a MUCH better job of competing in the "spooky/arcane/mythos" type genre.

This book just doesnt live up to what it could be.

Anyhow, thats my 2 cents. My suggestion, read it at your local shop before buying. Decide for yourself. Having borrowed a copy, I've decided to not buy my own. :(

Wow, I'd have to agree. Other than having Holmes in the story it sure didn't include any Holmes-type mystery. The Lovecraftian horror/suspense was absent also.

Something minor caught my eye too. The roman numerals on one of the buildings in the book were completely off. I think they were meant to be read as 2166 but they weren't in the correct order and I don't see how that date would be possible for the setting of the story.

yeah... all in all I was fairly disappointed considering the amount of hype it was getting due to its "sherlock holmes meets lovecraft", but it was so poorly done and UNsuspenseful that I gave up trying to enjoy it about 1/2 way through the book.

I wouldnt really recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Lovecraft, Sherlock Holmes, horror, or mystery. The only good thing about it is the cover by Templesmith.

Two or three visits to the comic shop ago i flipped through it and found the art not too exciting(i look for good art in a book most of the time) I liked the coved but the rest was Blaaaa! so i won't be buying it. Thanks for the heads up.

No problem.

I can see you're a HPL fan (just based on your avatar ;) ), but alas, The Irregulars is rather un-lovecraftian... I was a bit disappointed. So far no one has surpassed Mignola at injecting Lovecraftian terror into comic books.

Anyhow, I'm still holding out for the board game Arkham Horror being put out by Fantasy Flight Games (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/) and the video game coming out later this summer for pc/xbox Call Of Cthulhu (http://www.callofcthulhu.com/). Both should be exciting!

Looks awesome. You can find the game by going to here (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/arkhamhorror.html), and the artwork was done by the same art department which did the work for Fantasy Flight's CCG card game Call of Cthulhu (http://www.cthulhuccg.com)
