Kingdom of the Wicked

What a great hardback book. It was previously published by Caliber Comics, but I don't know when or recall the story.

This book jumps right in with the creep factor and gives the reader a nice story that should not be read to children. I tend to be more disturbed or sad when something acts out of the ordinary. Something wacked about stuffed bears engaged in bloody battle not to mention the disturbing prologue.

A well spent $15.95.

Anyone else read this and enjoy it?

I liked it up until the last quarter or so.

I really didn't like the interaction of the main character (Chris?) with his dark half. It just seemed to be lacking something. I also feel I would have enjoyed it more if it had taken place during the height of the war, instead of after it was already lost.

All in all though, it was a good read, I just think it could have been expanded a bit more.

You should check out the book. It is very good.

Smuggletrain,

I'm not sure if the war would ever be over. It was mentioned a couple of times that the Dictator loved war and seemed to just be playing with them and could have smashed them at any time. I think Christopher finally reached the point where he wasn't going to allow anything else bad to happen.

I kind of figured out what Christopher's physical problem was but I found it interesting that he chose not to allow his "twin" to die but reincorporate it within himself.

There really was a lot of symbolism in this story.

I'm gonna read it again and I'll pay particular attention to the timing of the confrontation to better understand your point.

It looked interesting but I don't think i can buy it just yet, will it come out a TPB?Doubtful. The hardcover is probably the only shot at this story; much like Scarlet Traces, another good story in hardcover by the same team.

If you guys liked Kingdom of the Wicked check out Scarlet Traces which was done in 2003 by the same writer and author team that put out Wicked. (Ian Edginton and D'Israeli) It's also a hardback and also excellent with really detailed and beautiful artwork. DarkHorse also put out Scarlet Traces. It has more of a sci-fi feel to it. The Earth was attacked by Mars but we defeated them and now we use their technology in everyday life. But, a detective and his assistant are finding dead women's bodies that have been drained of blood....Vampire or perhaps something from outerspace? Read it!
