I keep seeing covers soliciting a title called the G.L.A. Does anybody have any information about what this title is supposed to be about?

It is called the Great Lakes Avengers, it was a sort of comady team that Hawkeye lead while he was away from the West Coast Avengers. I think it is going to be in the style of "Formerly known as the Justice League".

They're a team of Z-List heroes called the Great Lakes Avengers.

Here's some background (http://www.angelfire.com/ny2/GreatLakeAvengers/).

As for what the new mini will be about . . . I only know what's in the solicits:

G.L.A. #1 (of 4)
Written by Dan Slott
Pencils & Cover by Paul Pelletier
They are the Great Lake Avengers, the guys who got the shortest end of the super-hero stick. But with the REAL Avengers disassembled, they're going to try to step up to the plate and deal with one of their most powerful villains! Can they save the day? Well, we just hope these guys can save themselves!
THIS ISSUE: A GREAT LAKE AVENGER DIES! (Besides Mr. Immortal, duh.) Special appearances by: Captain America, Thor, the Vision, the Scarlet Witch, and Hawkeye.
32 PGS./Marvel PSR …$2.99

G.L.A. #2 (OF 4)
Written by DAN SLOTT
Pencils & Cover by PAUL PELLETIER
"DIS-MEMBERSHIP DRIVE"
With the life-expectancy of hamsters, and an ever-thinning lineup, the GLA is in desperate need of new blood. But what self-respecting super-type would sign up for THIS!? Guest stars galore, including Brother Voodoo, El Aguila, and Captain Ultra. Plus Spider-Man, Wolverine, Daredevil, and all the other spotlight-hogs you can't get enough of! Oh, and don't forget, in this issue ANOTHER GLAer DIES! Well... besides Mr. Immortal.

Apparently it's going to be a little darker than the cover and solicits would have you expect...Dan Slott did an interview over at Silverbulletcomics and Newsarama about it (I think it was at both...)

It's a 4 issue miniseries and apparently there is one member of the team dying every issue. There are 4 members not including Mr. Imortal. Hmm.

That will happen if Marvel's sales drop dangerously low.

I'm really looking forward to this one, I really hope they don't kill off Squirrel Girl, she's one of those characters that while she doesn't have alot of tradential potential, she is very interesting and I think would do really in humor book.

Doom Hammer the Great and Terrible makes me see red:

And seen again in Joe Kelly's Deadpool run...

GAH! No, no, that wasn't them! That was some imposters calling themselves "The Lightning Rods". It couldn't have been them, because Kelly had them acting like complete morons, which the GLA never was! Quirky and weird, yes, but not incompetent buffons! Yup, imposters. I'm going with imposters.

And, yes, denial IS just a river in Egypt!!! :p
