She apparently is an actress in Australlian soaps and she's 5'11!
Am I the only one thinking this woman looks absolutely perfect?
Someone else told me that this woman,Nadia Bjorlin, is being considered:

Lucy Lawless suffers from the same problem as Monica Bellucci... too old.
Although I think MB would kick ass as Wondy.

You cruel man!!! Are you insinuating my two favorite actresses are old hags? Unfortunetly TPTB in Hollywood agree with you  . I would rather see an older actress who can act (and hence do the character justice) play Wondie than a young thing who can't act her way out of a paper bag. One thing I've found is that pretty without any substance gets old and tired real fast.

I really would love to see MB but I am keeping in mind what Hollywod thinks. Lawless would have been great 10 years ago... but now...
Megan Gale is the best person I've seen so far!

I would be very surprised if Monica Bellucci, if offered would take the part of WW. She strikes me as someone who considers herself to be an actress and would consider playing a super hero beneath her.
I had been hopping that the creators of Batman Begins would have used Talia and cast her.

her as Talia would have been a very interesting choice... plus her being older than Bale would have changed the dynamic in a way that makes sense (Bruce the orphan's first lover being an almost maternal figure)
I don't think she would consider a superhero beneath her as she played one of sorts in Matrix and in Brotherhood of the Wolf.

She played a witch/prostitute in Brotherhood if the Wolf not a superhero. I can see her being in a super hero movie as a supporting cast member but not playing the super hero herself.
She's not that much older than Bale. She's born in 68 he's born is 74. That's not exactly old enough to be his mother.

Ah, geeks and casting.
None of this will happen, guys.
Whomever they get to play Wonder Woman will have to be able to open a movie, unless they can get a director with a track record of opening a movie (which is why Bryan Singer can cast a unknown as SUPERMAN or Tim Burton could cast Michael Keaton as BATMAN).
Doesn't matter if these babes look right. Doesn't matter if they're the right age.
Wonder Woman will be a female movie star who wants a big money franchise.
The women who could have done it are moving out of range.
About 5 years ago, either Catherine Zeta Jones or Jennifer Connelly would have worked. About 10 years ago, when she was considered for the part, even Sandra Bullock could have done it, although she's too all-American.
Now...well, she's probably sick of comic book movies, but I'd say Jessica Alba if they can get her. She looks tiny, but so does Tom Cruise and he plays action heroes. I think she could open the movie and it'd be great getting John Byrne even more pissed off.

Was originally in LXG too, the Vampire.
She would be perfect if they were to do WW right now, but casting people have to look beyond that. It could be a year or two before they even start filming, and they'd probably want someone who could do sequels. Bellucci is 40 already, I don't see people taking the risk on her. More likely they'd go for someone in their 30s. My guess? Charisma Carpenter, especially considering Whedon is rumoured to be up for the gig.

Megan Gale is gorgeous but as far as I know, the only acting she's done is ads. For a model she's pretty intelligent, but that doesn't necessarily mean she could star in a movie.
I wish to hell Monica Belucci was ten years younger. It doesn't bother me she's near 40, but Hollywood wouldn't agree.
I hope they can find someone who both looks the part and can act more than a bit.

Got the look, but she's wayyyyyy to green for any lead role.
She was barely in Catwoman for five minutes and she barely registered with me.
Smith has to actually do some work in smaller roles until she's proven she can handle a lead role (ala Mandy Moore). Coupled with actual acting training on the side.
Edit:
If you want a model for the role you could always get Josie Maran. She's had more acting experience (including being a lead in an indie flick) then Smith. To bad she's taking time off (who knows how long?) to be with her baby.

Since Carpenter did her Playboy spread the studio doesn't want her even to audition for WW now. :(
Christopher Cross Is God
02-21-2007, 07:54 AM
Charisma Carpenter is too frail looking, I would hope she doesn't get consideration for the part.
I would say, aside from her age, Bellucci has too strong an accent for the part......But Wonder Woman is supposed to be from a distant island, so perhaps the accent wouldn't be that much of a deterrent?
There are all those random rumors about a couple Indian actresses as possibilities, but even if an accented-WW is accepted, I feel the Indian accent is too strong & distinct for that role..........I even talked to an Indian guy I know, telling him about rumors on message boards about a couple Bollywood actresses being talked about for WW, and his immediate response was the accent wouldn't work and the actresses wouldn't be able to get rid of it.

I have to say I'm pretty dead set against every name I've seen thrown out so far. Ideally I'd like someone with some experience with body building and fight choreography. Michiko Nishiwaki would be ideal if not for the minor detail that she's asian. Still I like to think that if a wide enough net were cast, some little known actress with all the right qualities could be found. Sadly we'll probably get someone that can do the "acting" but lacks the physicque and martial skill needed to play an Amazon warrior... or worse still, someone that can't even handle the acting, but is a pretty and popular face.
A pretty face does not an Amazon make, folks. Christian Bale needed a lot more than good looks to get the role of Batman.

Not enough acting experience.
She's only done a few plays at best.
Plus we have no idea if she could handle an action role. She could make it work (re: Garner, Beckinsale, Jolovich, Guillory) or fail badly (re: Halle Berry, Pamela Anderson, Silverstone).

I don't think that it matters whether or not an actress is capable of doing the action stuff. It's movies. Anything's possible. Batman came off as a total badass in "Batman Begins". It's all how you shoot it, edit it, etc.
Anyhow ... I'm just depressed about Whedon leaving, and I feel they are going to make a completely horrible film now, with a screenplay more decided by executive committee than anything. And that's never a good thing.

Movies need actors who can "sell" their characters to the audience. Otherwise they look rediculous.
See Halle Berry in X-men, James Bond and Catwoman. She's a great actress but in those performances she was awful. I never truly believed she was any of those characters.
Movies can get away with a lot less, even with big budgets, then comics in executing ideas and it shows.
For example, putting glasses on Tara Reid doesn't mean she was a believable scientist or calling Denise Richards a scientist while having her dressed like a Playmate.
That's why casting & crew is so important.
Anyhow ... I'm just depressed about Whedon leaving, and I feel they are going to make a completely horrible film now, with a screenplay more decided by executive committee than anything. And that's never a good thing.
Agreed on that. Silver originally wanted Jessica Biel to audition. She's not a bad choice.
But if the script is terrible and it is badly executed (re: Catwoman, FF) then it doesn't matter *who* they hire it'll suck.
