They reacon that H2 is goin to be more mystical based - after seeing Constantine, I'm hoping they do some Pandemoniem/Hell scenes that include ASTAROTH. I would love to see Sean Connery play him.

OK, I realize that I don't offer much in the way of box office draw... but I'd be willing to give it a try...
"Ahem, cough, cough... TRULY THIS IS OUR BLACKEST HOUR."
How was that?

Close, but it was The Merchant of Venice. You know, pound of flesh, yada, yada...

I would much rather see the use of lesser known but talented actors ie just like the 1st movie.
altough if that wizzined goblin is going to be in it, I think that hollywood Vetran Tad shoul get the part ;)

It would be cool to see Abe do something more than just touching things, showing retrospections and getting his ass kicked by some Sammayels...

Astaroth? Two words: Patrick. Stewart.

No big celebrities. Last thing I wanna see is Sean Connery's name bigger than the title of the movie on the poster and Ron's name not there at all.

No big celebrities.Yeah! And to show that I'm serious I hereby volunteer myself for any role in the film, not already spoken for by a return cast member from the first film.
If that doesn't work for GdT, then can I be an extra who gets to wear a cowboy hat and an eye patch? A little inside sumpin' sumpin' for us hellboarders.
Oh, and can I get killed? I do a great dying scene and I play dead well.

mmmmm... Patrick Stewart.
... but no, he's too shiney for Astaroth we need someone a bit more grizzled.. like maybe John Turturro
no really

morna- Stewart can do grizzled. He did an adaptation of King Lear set in the old west. It was surprisingly good and he was a battered old drunken landowner.

"Ahem, cough, cough... WHAT'S ALL THE NOISE ABOUT?"Unless you're getting PMs it looks like we're both not getting picked up for this next picture. Kinda sad really, people will never know what they are missing.

My first impression of him was in one of my all time favorite movies Dune. The next of course was ST: The Next Generation. It's hard for me to separate him from his ST captain role. Even in the X-Men movies I expected him to jump up, say psyche, and yell "Mr. Laforge, warp 5, engage."
He is such a good actor I wouldn't want him to be the spotlight of the movie. I would like to see Perlman maintain that honor. No offense to Mr. Stewart. He is good. A lesser know actor would maintain Perlman as the lead and maybe we can experience finding another great person like Doug Jones.

I don't think we need to worry about big name actors outshining Ron Pearlman, he brings a lot of depth and believability to Hellboy. The presence of John Hurt didn't diminish Pearlmans presence in the first one. I just hope they have better actors overall in the supporting roles. I don't know how many times I've watched the dvd but I still find the performances of Karel Roden as Rasputin and Bridget Hodson as Ilsa the weakest part of the first movie.

i thought Ilsa could have done better, but i think that Karel Roden did a good job

I liked Roden's Rasputin quite a bit. Sort of underplayed and not too bombastic. Another guy might have been way too "actory". I agree that Ilsa could have been better, but she didn't have to talk much so...

Kronen came across as a great "What the heck is he?" bad guy, but the woman playing Ilsa was too wooden and two-dimensional. I kept expecting her to say somethign like, "Me big dumb Nazi bitch, me smash."
