I just finished the final book in the Deathstalker saga, Deathstalker: Coda.
This was such a great series. Star Wars on speed. Extremely violent, with some very weird fantasy overtones, and very, very funny.
Owen Deathstalker was such a cool hero, even though he never wanted to be one. He just kept getting dragged in against his will.
Deathstalker luck. Always bad.
I loved this series, and I'll miss reading it.

It was a great series, wasn't it? STAR WARS on speed is an apt description. With the rush of crazy ideas and the genre-bending fun, I always looked forward to a new DEATHSTALKER book.
I was kind of surprised that Green went that far afield for the ending, though, and managed to pull it off. He wrapped up damn near every dangling plot thread in a way that basically made sense. Some of the explanations were out of left field and slightly abrupt in their presentation, but they worked.
And he even managed to find a happy ending. Sort of.
You have to wonder, though, if we've really seen the end of the series. I thought we were done after DEATHSTALKER DESTINY, and four years later we got another trilogy. I could easily see Green coming back to DEATHSTALKER at some point. There are a few settings and ideas in DEATHSTALKER CODA that just scream for more exploration.

Would someone have to be a hardcore sci-fi fan to enjoy this series? I've enjoyed The Dark Tower by Stephen King, the Hobbit, and the Lord of the Ring's trilogy by Tolkien on the fantasy side. I've read several of the Star Wars novels on the sci-fi side. Do you guys think I would like this?

I wouldn't think it would be a problem. The series is more space opera than it is real, hard science fiction.
Give it a try. Based on your taste in comics, I think you might like it.

An excellent series so far.
Green's ability to tell stories is right up their with among the very best.
