Right I don't know if you have discussed this a bunch of times before but....Flex. Is it worth tracking down? There always seems to be a lot on ebay going for funnymoney. Anyone here read it and able to give a definitive recommendation?

It is a fantastic book, but I'm not sure if it's worth the kind of money it goes for. In fact I don't think any comic is really worth that much. I'm sure you could find some scans on the internet if you look hard enough

I got mine fairly cheap through back-issue bins. Mind you, this was back when Grant Morrison was Grant Morrison, not GRANT MORRISON~!OMG!

So the prices may have gone up a bit.

I really enjoyed it, too. Is there no trade? too bad, if this's the case. Why's it hard to get, financially? Didn't think there was all that much interest!

I don't know for certain, but it may have to do with the legal troubles it incurred with the Charles Atlas people ( I *do* know that's why it was never collected into TPB)...

I think the problem is that it didn't sell particularly well. Suddenly Morrison and Quitely become superstars, the buzz around the book builds up so that everyone wants it and then people find out there will be no trade, so the price shot up.

There was a Charles Atlas legal case, but I believe DC settled it. Now they probably don't see it as being worth the trouble to release after all the bother it's caused.

One nice story I heard was that the fan who accidently informed Charles Atlas of the similarity - and incurred their wrath - later met Morrison and suggested he use Emma Frost in his X-Men revamp. Karma karma chameleon.

Last I recall hearing, there were plans to issue Flex in a trade along with some relevant DP issues if the DP reprint series continues.

So buy the trades!

The last quote I heard from DC was along the lines of "it's possible that the only restriction is that we can't have Flex Mentallo on the cover of a book".

I think the idea of printing the miniseries in a Doom Patrol volume was fan speculation - It'd be nice though

I loved this book! I think it's must reading for any long time comics fan; it's probably the best deconstruction of what the whole superhero thing's about that I've ever read. And Quitely really shines here, in alot of ways I think it's his best work.
