They killed Danny on MI-5!

Good God, the entire cast is practically gone! This show is to TV what X-Statix were to comics!

Other than Harry, the main cast is completely gone. The fourth season will premiere in late 2005, so it will be interesting to see both where the season picks up and who will be the new people working with Adam Carter.

Something tells me it will be that new guy they introduced in the same episode Danny bought it.

The one that slipped Adam the listening devices under cover of doing a survey?

So what about Zoe and Ruth? They'll still be around wont they? I missed the first half of last nights episode and was so bummed. :-( After falling off the MI-5 bandwagon, the last two episodes have really brought me back in. Last nights episode was a complete shocker.

Yeah, that guy. He had enough lines to make me think he'll pop up next season.

Yeah I totally crapped my pants when Danny was shot. I was hoping we'd find out he was still alive, since the shooting itself was so quick. Of course, when the next time we see him was in a body bag, that kind of dashed my hopes.

Zoe is off the show. Her career was ruined in a botched case. She became a political liability, so MI-5 gave her and Will a new life and identity in South America. Feasably she could return (so could Tom, technically)— but I wouldn't expect it. I doubt MI-5 would even tell Zoe and Tom that Danny is dead.

I kind of dropped off to, but that show always pulls me back in towards the beginning and end of each sease. I really ought to check out the DVDs.

I must have missed an episode somewhere. The last episode I remember seeing is where that guy(cant remember his name) was tortureing that prisoner relentlessly. I dropped out of watching MI-5 for awhile cuz the stories just became so complex. It was like I could follow what was going on but still be confused on some level. I know, I suck. lol

I don't really consider Ruth a MAIN character. She's a supporting character.

Zoe is gone, she was convicted of murdering a police officer. It was an operation that went bad and she got hung out to dry. They ended up with her being spirited away to a new life and identity in South America.

Technically, Zoe got the new life, not Will. He badgered Danny (and therefore, MI-5) until Danny told him where she was.

I don't see either Zoe or Tom finding out. Danny was an MI-5 agent, they were no longer agents. Telling them would probably break the Official Secrets Act.

Actually Zoe couldn't return. She's supposed to be in jail. Since MI-5 is England's DOMESTIC agency, if she were to come back and operate, there would be the chance that someone involved in her murder trial would see her out on an operation.

Tom is persona non grata with the intelligence agency after his breakdown and I don't see him ever being allowed back.

I would love to know if Tom went to find the woman and child he was with in the first season.

The actors playing Tom and Zoe are together in real life and decided to leave the show together. They left at different times so the show wouldn't suffer much and could produce storylines for them.
No news of whether either will make a guest appearance in the next series yet.
By the way, why was the name changed for you americans. No probs with it, but surely you all understand the shows original title of spooks right? just seems odd.

I don't know why the name was changed officially. Perhaps they felt people wouldn't get it, or it could be because the original title of the show is a word that is sometimes associated with racist language.

Yes the first two season are out on DVD, they are the original UK broadcast episodes, with about 10-15 minutes of story.

Racial slur.

I guess political correctness changed it then. Thanks, although why we britain can call it spooks seems weird considering the mix of races within our country. Nevermind though, cest la vie and all.

Wait...the DVDs have 10-15 minutes more per episode?— damn American tv structure!

As a black American, I'm pretty okay with there not being a show on television called "Spooks." And if your lot decides to make a show called Sambos, Jungle Bunnies, or Coons I hope you don't mind if those change those too. It's just probably a good idea, in general, to avoid those titles in a product you're selling. Don't want people to immediately associate you with something negative.

I never knew that Spooks was a racial slur for black Americans. Huh. You think coming from the south I would have heard that term at some point. Well, you learn something new I guess...

That's what happens when you have a different commercial structure from one country to another.

sorry about coming late to the conversation, but...

WHAT THE HELL DID YOU GUYS GET ME INTO?!?!?!

i go ahead (on your advice) and get drawn into the series by watching the marathon of the first two seasons, leading up to the premeire of this season and get taken on perhaps the most intense emotional rollercoaster i think i have been on from a tv show. i mean come on, over the course of a season, all three of the main characters are gone now...and all under some pretty messed up circumstances.

anyway, thanks for the suggestion to check the show out, this and Battlestar Galactica are now my 2 most favorite shows on television. they have also been the two that most consitently give me goosebumps from anticipation of whats next! can't wait for the next season!

Well I for one am glad to hear we've drawn another one into the cult of MI-5.

Wow, political correctness is alive and kicking.
Considering Britain is a country of mixed races and religions, you'd think we'd be so politically correct, but it's just the name of a show. No need to be so angry towards another user when no offence is intended.

personally, being both black and from the south, i am both amused and slightly offended when someone gets mad or throws a fit over someone using a "racial slur"...especially when it's not intended to offend, or even more so when its a word that has more than one meaning. i have always had an intrest in spy stories, so when you told me (in my other thread) that the original name of this show was "Spooks", it never even occured to me that someone might actually confuse the show with something racist. i honestly feel that its the people who can't get past stuff like that who are slowing down or stopping any sort of progress in the department of race relations.

anyway, now to get back on topic...how much are the seasons going for on DVD? and is the title of the DVD's changed for the American versions?

I think the standard US price barring sales is 60-75 bucks.

The titles of the American DVDS are MI-5.

I'm not angry at you, I'm laughing at you. Instead of accepting your ignorance of the word, you write it off as "political correctness. No. It's a racial slur and it wouldn't be too smart to name your show that, at least not in America. I doubt we'd name a show "Fags" either, even if it takes place in a cigar shop. It's just not smart. Lots of countries have mixes of races, hey America is even one of them. Doesn't mean there isn't racism in each and every one of these countries, and it doesn't account for the fact that each country has enough initiative to come up with their own hateful words for each other.

I don't really like Fiona (Adam's wife) working with him at MI-5, the melodrama slips into cliches rather easily with this setup.

I hope Sam returns, I love the figure on that woman.

Ruth is so good at her job, it's scary. The episode that spotlighted her lonely existence was done well, though it was sort of emotionally painful too.

I think Zeph (the "Asian") will be Danny's replacement.

I'm not sure I like Adam all that much either, but he's sort of a mix of contradictions at times where he's like a giddy little boy doing surveillance and has a sordid past that keeps him a little on the sadistic side when pumping suspects for information.

I watch the BBC episodes (via alternative means) because I can't stand the chopped up versions that air in the US on A&E.
