My friend wanted to know what y'all thought about video game sytems? My vote goes to the sega genisis. Yes there have been many lepas and bounds in the way of what you can do and see in video games, but this system is the love of my life. Interestingly enough, everyone at my job said without a doubt, super nes. What about y'all?

I love my Nintendo Entertainment System! I wish that is still worked, but regardless of its functional handicaps, I will never throw it out! There were so many great games for the NES. Let's list a few:
Final Fantasy, Super Mario Bros. Series, Crystalis, Dragon Warrior Series, Mega Man Series, Zelda Series, Bionic Comando, Star Tropics, Ninja Gaiden, Battle of Olympus, Castlevania Series.
There are so many classic games for this system, many of which went on to spawn great sequels for later game consoles. My vote goes to the NES.

SNES, no doubt. I think the upcoming generation may finally top them; this is the first time where I genuinely want to buy all 3 of the consoles.

The Atari 2600.
I mean, seriously. Buried Alien just pulled one out of 20-year storage and the damn thing still worked.
That's staying power, brothers.

the best video game system ever would be the original nintendo system with the donky kong and bird shooting gun thing! That was the best system ever!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Nintendo 64.

Dreamcast just because it was underappreciated and you can use it to emulate older consoles.

Sorry...how would you go about doing that? I've never heard about this before and I'm intrigued.

PS1, because of all the great RPGs
SNES had the classics, but Playstation took it to a new level for me.

SNES and ATARI! PS2 also because PSX was good but PS2 really improved on it to the point where they became like two diffrent systems.

If your using it to emulate other consoles doesn't that imply that its game library was lacking?
SNES was the best. It just had great games for what ever type of game you liked playing.

The original NES. Followed closely by SNES and Sega Genesis.

I would say Dreamcast takes the cake for underrated, but Super Nintendo trumps all. Super NES was like it's own epoch, dominated other systems, even when newer ones starting coming out with more powerful graphics etc. Also, game development hadn't yet become the shit show we have now, developers worried abot making games fun and worthwhile before they thought of cinematic or cool.

I'm willing to bet that age plays a large factor in our votes. I had an Atari as a little kid. Got an NES for my 13th B-day and played it until I was 18 and the SNES and Genesis came out. Those that are older will probably vote for Atari or Pong, younger will go with PS1, Dreamcast, even the PS2 or XBOX.

It's slightly beats the Atari Lynx on my list.
For me it would have to be the original NES followed by the PS1 and Super NES.

Gamecube is a lot better than the Lynx, just no one sees that.

I love the cube, but it's lacking the quantity and diversity of games that I feel a system needs to be considered the best. This narrows the field down to the systems that were most dominant in their time: The 2600, the NES, the SNES, the Gameboy, the GBA, the Playstation, and the PS2. I would cut out the 2600, the original Gameboy, and the Playstation for their technical limitations and flaws(Gameboy's blurry screen, PSX's disc-reading issues, 2600 just basically being too antiquated). I'd say the SNES is the clear winner here, as it had everything you could possibly want in a game.

Maybe it's just because I'm a Sega fanboy :) . Yeah, the library wasn't that great but some of the games that came out for it are still great.
I understand all of the SNES support though, that system just had a butt-load of games on it.

SNES followed by Dreamcast and, finally, PS2.
SNES for what it was for its time. It took home video gaming to a new level. So many classic games were brought to the masses on that system.
Dreamcast for what it was for the next gen systems. Yes, Sega got it wrong by creating a CD-based system, but, the games were the best. The Capcom titles and other arcade ports alone made it the system to own for me and the peripherals were actually useful (enhancing the gaming experience).
PS2 will go down in history for the backwards compatibilty. This has got to be the most revolutionary idea in video gaming to surface on the next gen platforms. Sony blew me away with that innovation.
