And here I was so looking forward to it.

Maybe if Joss himself was writing this, I would pay that much for a regular 32 page comic but this is ridiculous even for me a huge Whedonverse fan! I guess, I'm going to have to wait and see if a trade comes out of this and how much it'll land up costing because that much for an issue is just too much for me especially because a) the difference will add up to quite a bit when you're working in South African rands and b) there are so many other really good or really promising titles coming out over this next year.

Is anyone else put off by this.

Yes. Price is the one and only reason I have never bought an IDW comic. However, they recently teamed with Pocket Books to produce a manga-sized B & W digest of the first CSI miniseries. Ten bucks, US. Sure the original was in color, but the original trade was also $20.

As for Angel, I might get the trade, too, but I kind of doubt it.

Ugh, will wait for a trade. IDW Publishing is too expensive; only way I can afford their titles, is to buy the trades at deep discount during sales...

I haven't bought any IDW comics either yet, just because of that price tag. It's too much.

I might even pass on Fallen Angel, should the rumours turn out true, even though I LOVED the DC run of that series, and was upset about its cancellation.

Why ARE IDW comics so expensive? No other publisher jacks them up so high. Avatar, Devil's Due, all the others can keep it under $3. So why can't IDW.

They are losing so many potential customers because of this. Morons.

Avatar's "Medieval Lady Death" is also $3,99. So are some other (colored) books, too IIRC.
Not to mention "Frank Miller's RoboCop" #8-9 with $5,99. With a price tag like this I stopped buying it with issue #7. They can rip-off somebody else, then I'm missing the last two issues. The series was utter crap anyway.

I buy a lot of IDW (GrimJack, Sable, everything from Ben Templesmith, everything that is 30 Days of Night - except for the overpriced hard covers with 10? pages of new story. Eff you, IDW, I say! ) but yeah, the price tag hurts.

I think the price tag is necessary, otherwise they´ll go the way of Dreamwave. These licenses need to be paid for. ;)

@Ivan Isaacs: Robocop 8 and 9? Are they out yet?

I don't think so, because I haven't seen them. But with a price like that I wouldn't be surprised if nobody else ordered them. :D

IDW comics are well worth the price. Although I do pick and choose the BEST of the BEST from their available titles. Can't afford to let that $4 go to waste on something ifie. But lately they've been coming out with lots of Grade A books, so its hard not to dish out the money.

Apparently Peter David is writing a Spike one-shot for August, which should, to be perfectly frank, be amazing (PAD + Buffy = Lots and lots of goodness) but I could only imagine how much this will cost. It'll probably be an oversized prestige format book so I'd imagine a whole lot of moola. Still, I'm actually tempted to pick this up regardless but I'll have to see.

Prestige books (Blood-stained Sword etc.) are $7,49. At DC they are normally at $6,95, so for an indie label that's no big difference IMO.

Yeah the high price sucks, but when I buy an IDW book, it usually ends up being worth it.

I'll be getting both the Angel miniseries and the Spike one shot.

Are there no ad pages in these comics?

Wait a minute, I just saw the solits for IDW in July at comics continuum but Angel's second issue is only 2.99. Anyone know what the deal is because that is much more like it.

So Dark Horse lost the Buffy liscence?

Huh.

Maybe we'll get some better Buffy comics, then. (Although I will miss Chyna Clugston Major's occsional drawin' stint.)
