I was just wondering from when did Greg Rucka's run on Detective Comics start and when did it finish. Any information is apperciated.

Rucka started on Detective Comics with #739, concluding the two-part "Jurisprudence" story (which began in Batman #572, also by Rucka) and continued until #775. :)

All of them, truthfully. :) But here are a few standouts:

#739-741 = The last three issues of "No Man's Land". Might be a little confusing if you haven't read the other twenty-something parts, but you get to see Two Face put Commissioner Gordon on trial, Bane versus Joker, Luthor versus Penguin, and Joker does something REALLY bad.

#747 = A humanizing Two Face story, with Detective Montoya.

#748-750 = Neat Ra's al Ghul and Talia story.

#756 = Batman teams up with Lois Lane to steal President Luthor's kryptonite ring, and Superman tries to stop them

#773-775 = It's hard to explain without giving away much of Rucka's run, but basically Batman goies up against Checkmate to save a friend he betrayed.

Well, yes and no. His continuous run on Detective began with 739, but I'm sure he did some other NML stories in Detective before that. On the other hand, his post-NML Detective run (which is what most people would be thinking of, I'd assume) began with 742.

I love Rucka's run on Batman. He and Jim Starlin defined the character for me.

If you want to save some change you can get Batman:Evolution TPB. I forgot the issues they cover. But it really is good

I love Rucka. He and Loeb and Gail Simone are my 3 favorite writers. I also like Rucka's Atticus Kodiac novels and recommend them to anyone of his fans. No superheros, but great reads.

I enjoyed most of Rucka's Detective run, but the only thing that I didn't like was that he didn't spend much time on actually writing Batman. He wrote Batman from Sasha's POV all the time. The series became the Sasha show with Batman featured.

The focus on Sasha was the last part of the run. One thing I have noticed is that Rucka loves writting women. Most of the characters he writes are women. And he seems to have a...how should I put it...a fondness for lesbians. I'm sort of suprised how well he wrote Batman. But he's one of the few writers that made Batman a 3 dimensional character.

Who doesn't like lesbians? I guess I'm getting sick of the Montoya show over in Gotham Central, but hey, I enjoyed the Half a Life storyline when many others didn't.
Rucka did do a good Batman/Bruce Wayne. I'd like to see him or Brubaker on one of the Batman titles again.
