Wow, that's still a long time away.
So, AC 826 will be my last.
I have just seen the first byrne cover in the previews catalogue. Its terrible.
I like the Austen run. I would have tried the first issue of the Gail Simone run, but not with Byrne. His work on the JLA was so terrible, i don´t want to read a book with his art.

I'm willing to give it a try, just for two reasons:
1) It's Superman.
2) I'd like to see how Gail handles this.

My first Superman books were Byrne's Man of Steel Mini and his run on Action Comics.
That's the Superman I know, that's the Superman from my childhood . . . I will most certainly be picking up this book.

Besides, it's not that Byrne's art sucks. He's a great artist. Perhaps it's just that his art is a little rusty... (I guess).

But based on blood of the demon, this is worth picking up. The art in demon is really good and I expect more of the same with Nelson (great work in other books).
If it stinks, I'll drop it, but I gotta read it first to find out!

You actually look at the covers? Especially enough to have them influence what you buy beforehand?
I like the Austen run.
Oh... well, that explains it. ;)
What does the fact that i like Austen´s run has to do with me not liking Byrne´s art?
I have byrne´ JLA-issues (circle of tenth) and the art is terrible. Than i saw the cover of AC and its terrible too. And the cover of the second AC-issue drawn by him is not better.
I don´t think that inside the comic the art will suddenly change.

You do know that JB didn't INK those JLA issues right? If you look at the original pencils vs. the final product there is more Ordway in there than JB.

You're passing up a book written by GAIL SIMONE because of cover art?
Your loss.

You must be joking?! Saying that John Byrne is a terrible artist is like saying fresh air just doesn't smell good. You can criticize the guy for his points of view, and you can dislike his story-telling, but you must see the talent that is within his pencils. Even those that don't care for the artwork, generally admit that there is talent there, it just doesn't appeal to them (though why is beyond my ability to understand).

Different strokes for different folks. If he doesn't like Byrne, he doesn't like Byrne. Not a big deal. I love Patrick Gleason's artwork, many people refuse to buy Aquaman because of it. I think Geoff John's is a good writer but nothing great, and I know I am the minority of that.
Actually, I really hate that first Byrne's cover too. Think it looks terrible. But I have seen some of the inside art which looks much better.
I like Byrne art in the old x-men issues. I enjoy his art in the man of steel issues and the first superman comics.
But all his art i see in he last time is terrible. JLA the tenth circle is an example. What happend to his art? And than i see the new cover. And compared with his old work, with his old covers, its terrible too.
What happend with him, why is his art now worse than his former work?
