Ok, we all have 'em. Hiding in our subconcious just waiting to jump out at the wrong time. And now is that time. So here's the rules.

To be eligible the movie must have been released between 1980 and 1989, honorable mention can go to '79 and '90.

Give a linky to the IMDb page so we can all witness your depravity and laugh, LAUGH at your foolishness. Or, ummm, you know agree with you or something.

I'll go first.

Midnight Madness (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081159/) is a classic college movie that drips pure '80s schlok like a boil drips pus.

Night of the Comet (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087799/) is a bad, Bad, BAD '80s horror movie that is so unbelievably bad, when it comes on channels like USA or TNT I am rendered powerless to resist and must sit and watch the entire thing.

Scavenger Hunt (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079858/) was made in '79 so it gets honorable mention. Why? It's hilarious, that's why. Great ensemble cast, good premise makes for a really good, bad movie.

Your turn. :D

2.The Sword and the Sorcerer-over the top gore and a Conan rip-off, but damn, that Sword though impractical, was awesome!
3.Pandemonium. Hilarious, Pee -Wee Herman at his funniest

Here are my top 5:

5. The Pink Chiquitas--- Nymphos, A Pink Meteor, Ertha Kitt like purrs from said meteor...and Frank Stallone. You can't go wrong. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093741/

4. House II: The Second Story--- Perhaps one of the greatest sequels ever. It has monsters, old cowboys, and Cliff Claven. Awesome. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093220/

3. This one needs no explination. It is so awful, I will watch it any time it is on...no questions asked. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091225/
So he does he have to give his Oscar back for being in this? And can you take this man's political views serious after watching this movie?

2. Killer Klowns from Outer Space. Horrible. Utterly useless. One actually loses IQ points watching it. Yet, I can never stop once it is on.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095444/

1. The Mosquito Coast. A lot of people like it. A lot of people also thought shag carpetig was nice. Folks this isthe worst movie ever made. EVER. I mean a giant f**kin' ice machine. Harrison Ford says this is his favorie movie. I hand my head in shame thinking of it. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091557/

The Neverending Story.
The Last Unicorn.
The Dark Crystal.

The list is supposed to be "bad".

The Dark Crystal is brilliant and full of imagination, Planes, Trains and Automobies is hilarious, and as a kid's movie, you can't go wrong with Goonies OR the Neverending Story.

Nothing wrong with those picks at all.

I'll have to 2nd "Masters of the Universe". Horrible acting (except for Langella, who's fantastic), but fun.

It's embarrassing how much I love this movie. It's just so weird. It really is a warrior quest story, except it's about the code of honor needed for, well, being a tavern bouncer. Seriously.

They battle zombies and of course, there is a super secret government science group. Pure cheese! Loved it!

Three Words: "Who's That Girl". For some darn reason, I actually like this movie, even if it has Madonna is it.

"In God We Trust"--I think this came out in the 80's. It featured Marty Feldman as a monk, Andy Kaufman as a televangelist, and Richard Pryor as God.

"Amerithon"--This was actually from 1979, but i still have to put it here. This movie takes place in the late 1990s and stars John Ritter as the producer of a telethon trying to raise money to bail out America after a major financial crunch. Maybe George Bush ought to try that.

"Summer School"--I actually liked this movie, too. My favorite are the two character who review everything and give it a Siskel-Ebertian "Thumbs Up" or "Thumbs Down".

Road House is now a TNT classic, awesome cast and fight scenes. Though it's in a bar, Dalton reminds me of that Shaolin monk vibe. Loved his "Be Nice" speech.

"Then I'll tell you when NOT to be nice."

Hey, was Terry Funk in that movie too?

Beastmaster, the single greatest Conan the Barbarian rip-off ever.

And last but now least, the GREATEST Dolph Lundren movie ever by virtue of the single GREATEST exchange of one-liners ever:

"I COME IN PEACE!"
"AND YOU'RE GOING...IN PIECES!"

They Live with wrestling leg end Rowdy Roddy Piper. Absolutely awful yet still watchable in a lovingly-laughing sorta way. For those who don't know, Roddy drifts into town as an out of work construction guy, makes a friend, finds some special sunglasses, realises aliens are subliminally controlling us and then says stuff like 'I've come to kick ass and chew bubblegum...and I'm all outta gum!' and then he does kick ass but never finds any gum. great film

For those who know it, the ending is the best part-'Whatsa matter baby?'

It's an awful film, but it is cool that one of my lecturers showed it on my histroy of mass communication and culture course as an example of hegemony.

My dream movie would have Joe, the American Ninja and his wacky black sidekick Jackson, team up with Sho Kosugi from Ninja III: The Domination against that sexy aerobics instructor who is possessed by an vengeful ninja.

That sexy aerobics instructor was the lead actress in both Breakin' and Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo!

My picks for this thread are:

Can't Buy Me Love
License To Drive

Don't necessarily love them, but they're bad films from the 80's which I like.

This is actually a pretty easy thread to pick films for since there were by far more really cheesy, terrible movies made during the 1980's than any other time in film history.

Maybe it was because the VCR was first becoming popular and they needed filler, I don't know, but oh man were there some real stinkers during that rancid little decade.

Still, I have to admit it, I'll still watch the Night Breed, Rambo and The Lost Boys when they come on, no matter how much like week old cheese they actually are.

My Choices:

Three O'Clock High
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094138/

Don't know what it is about this movie that makes me like it. It centers around one thing for the whole movie that seems to take forever to get to. It's intriguing and unrealistic, but it's kinda fun, at times.

Top Secret!
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088286/

An all around crappy movie that makes me lol at many times throughout. The boring parts put me to sleep, but things like the underwater fight and the parachute love scene are not to be missed!

Trust
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103130/

Yeah, one of Shelley's movies, too bad she's gone now. :(. This was not all that bad, but it was very, 'independent' and not very slick in it's production. I empathized with it even though the ending is bad and the camera work is horrible.

The Terminator
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088247/

Whoa! 'The Terminator'! you say? Yes. For me, this was always a low end sci-fi movie with a great idea and immersing backstory, but cheesy in the outcome. A b-movie with low grade effects and dated, irl. T2 picked up on the ideas and moved them into the general populace's conscious with amazing f/x and using the original story.

Secret Admirer
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089981/

Thomas Howell is no leading man, but Kelly Preston was hot and this movie is kinda funny, to see the 'stud' go down in flames, even though he wins at the end. I can't relate to this movie, but it has a certain, 'charm' that I cannot explain.

Rad
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091817/

Really? Rad? Well, it may have been rad, but it is no longer. But for past riders of the dirt, it's the kinda movie to think back on the past. Plus, young hottie Lori was in it.

Mischief
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089601/

Again, with Preston. Maybe I was fascinated by her blatant sexuality in the 80's, but this movie had that same charm as Secret Admirer that I cannot explain.

Blue Thunder
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085255/

Like the Terminator, I thought this was a very cool idea, but it was cheesy as hell, and all that tech was dismissable in about 1 year after the movie came out. My uncle and cousins are pilots, so I was able to look through all their flying mags, military and civie, and I realized that this 'technologically advanced' helicopter was not that too forward looking. Too bad, they couldn't make this any cooler, like the Terminator, but then, it was hard enough writing a script for this first movie.

Megaforce
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084316/

Yes, Megaforce!! It has to be seen to be believed! Rockets on jeeps and motorcycles and lazers and all sorts of things! I even still have some of the die cast toys they made of this movie. It's all sorts of cheesy, but if you want your boy to grow up an alpha-dog (hate that term) then make them watch this movie and know how the cheesy hero succeeds!

Battle Beyond the Stars (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080421/) is NOT a bad movie. It was written by John Sayles, for crying out loud, directed by Jimmy Murakami (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090315/), it had models designed and built by James Cameron, who oversaw all the SFX, it was co-produced by Gale Ann Hurd, and it still holds up.

Forbidden Zone (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080752/) would have to be my entry. From the warped mind of Richard Elfman, with music from his brother's band, Oingo Boingo, and featuring Hervé Villechaize and his then girlfriend, Susan Tyrell, it's just an amazing new wave, pseudo-German Expressionist, acid-trip cartoon come to life.

Another, without a doubt, would be the Apple (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080380/). This is, I'm quite certain, THE WORST-EVER, glitter-disco, Biblical, epic. The story goes, that the first audience was handed complimentary copies of the soundtrack album on the way in. The film is so gawdawful that they flung them like frisbees, shredding the screen, necessitating a late start for the second showing. After the screen was replaced, they waited to give the second audience their albums on the way out - no one accepted it.

Still, I have to admit it, I'll still watch the Night Breed, Rambo and The Lost Boys when they come on, no matter how much like week old cheese they actually are.

Rambo First Blood Part II= great 80s action flick. Commando= Bad, bad, hilarious bad 80s action flick. I love 'em both.

The Lost Boys was my favorite vampire movie until the Blade I and II. It's still more enjoyable than any episodes of Buffy or Angel (and I really liked Angel). Plus it had Sax Man!

My favorite bad movies would be...

Rocky IV, The Musical In Disguise. Seriously, how many freakin' scenes in that movie are built around a song? There's not one, but two training montages! And WTF was going on with Paulie and the robot?!

Masters of the Universe. Favorite moment: a cynical cop near retirement going ballistic on Stormtrooper clones with a shotgun. What always bugged me, even as a kid, is how the climax makes no sense. Skeletor was already He-Man's arch enemy, and then he succeeds in acquiring the power of the universe and becoming a god...then He-Man just straight up beats him. Huh?

Howard the Duck. Did Leah Thompson's career ever recover from her beastial tryst in this movie?

Little Monsters. Fred Savage and Howie Mandel as a friendly monster, sort of a Beetlejuice for kids. Thinking about it now, I doubt there was a single funny moment in the entire thing. But back then, I loved it, maybe just for the premise of having a secret boogyman buddy.

Roadhouse. Nothing to add here, really, except the immortal words: "Pain Don't Hurt." A friend of mine is a bouncer, and I got him a T-shirt with that line emblazoned on it for Christmas. Nearly brought a manly tear to his eye.

Conan the Destroyer. I will defend to the death the first Conan as actually being a really good film. It had thematic depth, it had brutal action, a fantastic score, a good story, memorable characters, and made perfect use of Arnold's abilities. But this one...it's like somebody just took the plot from a Dungeons and Dragons game he played in college and slapped a dumbed down Conan and the old wizard into it. There's a lame wrasslin'-style confrontation between Conan and a monstrous ape-man-phantom in a lousy costume. But the sword fights are impressive, and there's the amazing sight of Wilt Chamberlin being tasked with protecting a girl's virginity.

Top Gun. The Be All, End All of cheesy 80s fun.
This football article (http://proxy.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/030904) covers it perfectly.

Elvira, Mistress of the Dark (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095088/) is a fantastic movie. It's Footloose meets the Munsters!

Memorable line: "Hey boys, grab a tool and start banging!"

A truly bad it's so good movie, is the sequel: Elvira's Haunted Hills (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0265171/)!

Memorable lines: "Mistess, the village people say the castle is haunted..."
"Well yeah, but who listens to the Village People anymore?"

None of these are crappy movies by any stretch of the imagination. Plus as far as Trust, it is a Hal Hartley movie, that's the way all of his movies go.

I also forgot my own:

2 of my favorites:

Tango & Cash

This movie is awesome. I can watch it from beginning to end without ever getting bored. Whenever it is on TV, I immediately stop what I am doing and watch.

Cherry 2000

This was never a "popular" movie, but it is definitely great. It is essentially a post apocolyptic western with some really terrible acting and writing - good stuff.

Don't know what it is about this movie that makes me like it. It centers around one thing for the whole movie that seems to take forever to get to. It's intriguing and unrealistic, but it's kinda fun, at times.

I saw this movie TWICE. It was just so poetic. Casey hears all the rumors about the new tough kid, Buddy; don't touch him; don't talk to him; he decides to interview him for the school paper; he pisses him off; then touches him. How can a viewer not just completely cringe at the slo-mo shot of him patting Buddy on the arm.

Then all his attempts to get out of the fight. And Buddy's blistering comment, along the lines of "You didn't even try. How does that make you feel?" And then, after the completely unrealistic fight, Buddy helps him out financially. What's not to love???

That said, my other choice is 1982's The Last American Virgin. Boy loves girl; girl falls for best friend; best friend dogs girl; boy helps girl back; girl falls, again for best friend. OUCH! And two songs on the soundtrack...Just Once by James Ingram and Oh No by the Commodores...just brought it all home. Certainly it must be a horrible movie, but at the time it was The Godfather.

No, I just love the movie, Saturday the 14th; I used to watch it on HBO all the time in 1983 or so. I wish the DVD would come back in print.
