That is ...just sad. Really. To buy your way into a novel is just so....21st century. I wonder how much Neil has control over this? Maybe it's his publishers and agent and Despair....

Wow, good to see CBLDF making lots of dough.

For one, it is a fund raiser for the comicbook legal defense fund. Two, it's up to $1400 with 6 days left. O.o And three, if it were only a grand, and I had the money, I would do it in a heart beat.

I like Neil Gaiman enough to buy the whole Sandman series(among other things of his), but this might be going a bit far.

Actually, it was his idea.

Actually, it was his idea.

I just read the quoted price and thought that it was some fan or somesuch. Then I read up on it though I still think that 1,400 dollars is a bit steep for an average fan, but it looks as if it is going to a good cause, so I apologize for being so fast to judge.

That's very strange, given that you could technically put ANYTHING into that book, if you paid enough. Could end up interesting.

Cheesy, but for a good cause. Neil Gaiman will always get carte blanche from me, he can do anything he wants and it's all good. :)

The auction has ended; the winner ended up shelling out $3,533, which makes this the one of the most successful single-item auctions the CBLDF has ever had.

Hmmm, I guess if I was rich I would do tha...No, if I was rich I could just make a book completely about me and self publish.

Yea, I think some people have more money than sense.

This is really cool... I just hope that the winner (named Alex, btw) doesn't have *our* Alex's sense of humor... *shudders to think what the ship might end up getting named*

:D

I only just realised that it didn't just get named after you.....

Neil could be in for a shock if the wrong person gets it.
(or he could get let down by their lack of dirty humour I guess).

Yes, because making a donation to a good cause is senseless.

*SIGH* Not what I meant. If you wanted to contribute to CBLDF then pick up your checkbook and donate. Somebody that's a Gaiman fan could see this and not have the first clue what the CBLDF is and just buy it for what it is. Hence the term: "More money than sense."

But hey---if it gets someone who doesn't even *know* about CBLDF to throw their money at it, why not? :)
