Did anyone see the full page ad in this week's Diamond retailer that shows, gasp, that Giantman is in the New Defenders? He's the only one I recognize...
except of course for the chick with the kitty cat ears on her head,... and the girl with at least four brassen balls (like old thor's six from his chest, except she had only four....two over the breasts...and two more below on the abdomen....go figure!)

Valkyrie, Hellcat, Nighthawk seem obvious, I think.
Is that Luke Cage ?
Is the punk guy ultimate Doc Strange ?

Ultimate Doc Strange looks just like the normal Doc Strange... so unless he has a big makeover I don't think so.

Hey, it's the T&A Squad! How is the blond girl going to fight when her bikini bottom falls down around her ankles? But, then, maybe that's a strategy.
The guy with wings looks suspiciously like Baron Blood.
And the clown? Sorry, I can't take a superteam seriously, that has an evil-looking clown on it.
I do like the looks of Kitty-Girl, though. Rrrrowww!

Really just wondering what you get out of it?Not to get in the middle of this, but Millar has been very clear about the fact that this team is the Z-List of heroism in the Ultimate Universe. If Ultimate Black Knight is on the team, "loser" is probably an appropriate word choice, antagonistic or not.
That doesn't mean he won't be interesting to read about, of course. Just that he won't be Ultimates material.

I wonder if they will have the obligatory and gratuitous battle with a fellow super-team, namely the Avengers/Ultimates? But really that's more of a MU convention.
The UU has shown so far (which I really like) that battles have consequences, and everything isn't going to be AOK in the next issue. So, a knock-down-dragout is more than likely to end up with people getting killed.

Wow, someone is taking crap personally, aren't they? This has nothing to do with you. You never washed out of a British super soldier program, did you? The whole point of the Ultimate Defenders is they are the losers not fit for government work. That's been stated many times before. So if Black Knight is a member, odds are, he's as much a loser as the rest of them. If you want to go looking for hidden messages in all my writings, be my guest. But remember the whole speech from Jay and Silent Bob strike back about fictional characters? This isn't even about a fictional character based on you. This is about a permutation of a fictional character that you stole your name from. But beyond that, if you want to take your mad Miramax movie money to fly to LA to kick my ass, be my guest.
In other words, just because I'm talking about the Black Knight doesn't mean I'm talking about you.

It's clear that Millar wants to mock and rip apart the Defenders, and as a Defenders fan it should bug me, but if you think about it, nearly every character in Ultimates except for Cap and possibly Thor is a nasty joke on the 616 original.

has it been confirmed that the ultimate gaintman in the ultimate defenders is ultimate hank pym?
like an issue or 2 ago, he was toying around with becoming ultimate ant-man. so in the span of the next 3 issues (i think ultimate defenders debut in issue 6), he trys out being ultimate ant-man, abandons the idea, and develops his own new band of super heroes?
maybe its someone else, seeing as theres been a gang of people in the 616 who had access to pym particles and started changing their size, maybe its one of them.
probably not, just thinking out loud.

Ultimate Iron Man is probably the closest to his MU counterpart. Just trade "brain tumor" for "heart condition."
Ultimate Thor's personality has been completely altered -- he's not even close to his MU counterpart and I don't see how anyone can assert that he is.
Ultimate Cap is very much altered in some ways, and little altered in others -- for the better, IMPO. Millar kept the best traits and ditched the milquetoast image that Cap picked up over the years.
U-Wasp is close to her old shallow self.
U-Hank Pym is pretty close, but has been fleshed out by Millar in ways that were never done in the MU.
U-Black Widow is pretty darn close to her old MU self.
U-Hawkeye seems to be a totally different personality.
Ultimate Hulk is, well, a horny cannibal.

I find the Ultimate version of Thor a thoroughly more interesting character than 616 Thor. The two are nothing alike.
Ultimate Iron Man is very similar to 616 Iron Man.
I prefer the Ultimate version of Cap (who's tougher and less corny than his 616 counterpart).
Ultimate Hawkeye has no personality. I think Millar put him on the team to appease fans.
Ultimate Black Widow is similar to her 616 counterpart. I don't care about the character, so it really doesn't mean anything to me.
Ultimate Hank Pym is more of a bastard than 616 Hank. I mean, 616 Hank never went so far as to sic an army of ants on his wife, did he? I'm guessing that Millar kills him off just after he reforms.
Can't stand Ultimate Wasp. Prefer the 616 character. Same thing with Hulk.

I haven't been able to read an Avenger title for about 15 years other than sporadic buying of crappy Captain America comics. Ultimates is great. All the characters are what they should have been from the start. Well, Millar's characters all seem to be sexual deviants, so maybe not in every way. Now though, I actually enjoy reading about these characters. The Ult Iron Man is great too. I'm waiting on an Ult Cap mini now.

I just recently learned that in one of the Marvel Universe titles, we (the marvel characters) were informed that in all the known multi-universes.... cataloged and numbered, the Marvel Universe was number 616.... as opposed to all the other What Ifs... the Ultimate universe.... etc.
Therefore, the latest term for the Marvel Superheroes universe is now, "The 616 Universe".
Go figure! :p
I would have thought it would make more sense for it to be the 625 or 675 universe.... corresponding to the old address on Madison Avenue for Marvel comics when they were dreamed up by the Bullpen and Stan and Jack back in the 1960s, but I guess the writer wasn't that clever when the above story was penned. Sorry, I don't recall what book or which Watcher-type character labelled us... maybe someone else can help with that attribution.

I believe it was Alan Moore, while he was writing Excalibur, who created the Captain Britain Corps, Otherworld, and the Omniverse, where every universe and parallel dimension are connected to every other universe and parallel dimension. He chose "616" to make the main MU sound like just another part of the grand scheme, as opposed to DC's "Earth-1."

Age of Apocalypse is an alternate timeline for 616.
It was Alan Moore that came up with it, and I think it was due to the thing Ronnie said above, he did it for his Captain Brtiain work (not Excalibur, he's never writen that).
And I think the AoA's number was 626. I think.
as opposed to all the other What Ifs... the Ultimate universe.... etc.
The What if's do have numbers but the UU, does not, it is completely separate from the MU Multiverse.

What's wrong with sexual deviants?
Nothing. After reading too much of Millar's work, it seems like a plot device that he uses too much. I'm just glad that Ult. CA doesn't have a compulsion to rape everyone like Millar's parody in The Authority did.
