Art Thread: Anakin Artwork

I think this is going to be a short thread, since I don't make alot of art. I'm working on the design for a boffer shield, it'll be a design of Celtic Knotwork vines with leaves and flowers when I'm done.

This is the template for the Knotwork; the fabric wrinkled a bit when I propped it up, but the gold sharpie looked so neat on the black fabric that I thought I'd share it.

I've added the first layer of green paint, and taped the fabric to a shield-template. It's a little off-center, but it's a decent refrence.

This is a cool design, Ani! How big is the shield? Can you post photos of other props/ costume pieces you've made?

The shield is 34" long and 18" across at the wide point. I've got a dozen or so other pieces up on my website, www.arsmagicae.com/nero.html

Very nice indeed. I love Celtic designs. My mom stitched a Celtic knot onto a little bag that I use for violin rosin.

She used red for the design, instead of green. :eek:

Ok, now to reveal my Master Plan....

I have to put 5/8" pipe foam around the edge of the shield for safety reasons, so I thoguht I'd have these vines wrap around the foam, and then turn ito the celtic Knotwork pattern on the fron of the shield. Here's a picture of a bow that I made with wrapped vines and a flower:

And now I'm debating painting leaves and flowers onto the celtic pattern so that it'll blend more. I placed some of my foam leaves on top of the design to see how it'd look:

I'm debating if the whole thing would look cooler with just the Celtic patten or with the pattern and add-ons. I might have to wait unti the rest of the shield is done to make that call.

When i saw the 1st image, i thought it was a patch design for jeans or something :D
Talk about putting imagination to real life! Very cool stuff Anakin. :)
