This week, media giant Viacom Inc. disclosed that it wrote down the value of its radio business by $11 billion and the nation's largest radio chain, Clear Channel Communications Inc., said it lost $4.7 billion in the fourth quarter, mostly due to an accounting charge.
Anything involving Clear channel getting kicked in the nuts is ok by me...

What's even better are the REASONS for their losses... http://www.issue9mm.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif
Industry observers say many of the problems reflect the industry's focus on profits and Wall Street, rather than consumers. Specifically, they point to cost-cutting that compromised the quality of programming, and a tendency to put more advertising on the air, alienating listeners with what's known as advertising "clutter."
Sweet, sweet justice. They are getting exactly what they deserve for lowering the general quality of radio. http://www.issue9mm.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_cool.gif

This is no victory, Radio still sucks. What's bad for your enemies is automatically good for you.

When MTV goes bankrupt because people stopped watching it due to the little music they showed, ill claim victory.

I used to love listening to the radio, but now almost every station is generic and obnoxious. I doubt this'll change anything overall, but it's nice to see the bad guys get screwed over.

Hopefully a step in the right direction.
i.e. bankrupcy of Clear Channel and Viacom

*wonders what that would do to housing costs in Manhattan*
