Anyone else gotten it yet? So far my favorite tracks is Lochness(kicks butt!), Eulogy, Wheels of Fire, and Judas is Rising. One of the things I really like about this albums is that they seem to be drawing sounds from their different time periods for different songs, ie Judas is Rising sounds like its from Painkiller whereas Wheels of Fire sounds like its from Hellbent for Leather or something similar. Also Halford's voice is still incredible. Now I can't decide whose voice has stayed the best with age, Bruce Dickinson or Halford.
I haven't been able to yet, but I'm hoping to be able to afford one next week.
I'll keep you informed.

I heard the single while riding with a friend on the radio and I gotta say it sounded awsome. Halford has some amazing vocal chords of steel.

This is goddamn fantastic. The production floors me - so, so nice and crunchy.
Fuck, what a comeback.

The album is fantastic!
However, I have to disagree with Hiromi about Lochness.
I didn't care for it all that much.

I'm trying to find the 2 disc(1 cd/1 dvd) version instead of the Dual Disc one.

That's the edition I picked up. I listened to it again at work and it still kicked ass.

Zombie, there is a bit of both styles on the disc.
Worth Waiting For definitely feels more like the rock and roll Priest. Great tune.

And the vocals are great, which can't be said for the past two studio releases with Owens.

I think so too.
My brother thinks it sounds terrible, but he has horrible taste in music, so his opinion is of course wrong.

There's an unconfirmed rumor that Dokken is going to be added to the Judas Priest/Queensryche tour.

*notices the typo in the subject line* CRAP!
Anyways couple days have passed and I'm returning my disk. This is because I made the mistake of getting the Dual Disk version, I'll be getting the sepearte disk version instead. And I must disagree with Deathstrock on Lochness, the...the atmosphere! The atmoshphere made by Halford's vocals and the guitars, it just sends friggin shivers down my friggin spine man. Iron Maiden and Priest both putting out excellent new disks with their classic frontmen, damn the Metal scene is hot right now.
I just got it last night. I'm definitely digging it. I've given it a couple of spins and enjoyed it a lot. I think it has a great freshness while still having its roots firmly planted in the 30 years of Priest music.
Right now, I've created a playlist with it and some other stuff through their history to play on random, and it's holding up quite nicely against the other stuff, I must say.
I picked this up last Friday. I wanted to listen to it a few times before I gave up my judgment of it because, frankly, on the first listen there were only three tracks that struck me as being anywhere near the quality of earlier JP songs--Worth Fighting For, Demonizer, and Hellrider.
But after giving the album a little more airtime in my apartment, just about every track on the disc has grown on me quite a bit. Halford's voice still sounds great despite the signs of his voice being more computer/reverb aided than it used to be. And the disc has enough spleen-melting guitar solos to keep happy years down the road; Tipton's solos haven't lost anything in technique.
I guess the only complaint musically I have now that the album has grown on me is that lyrically some of the tracks are unfulfilling. The chorus of Lochness is a great example: the line "Lochness, confess to me" is corn ball enough, but when you add to that the fact that they don't know what the word "malinger" means, it just about saps all of the joy out of the track. On the other hand, there are frequent allusions to previous JP songs strewn throughout Angel's tracks, and that makes me a happy life-long fan.
I bought the two-disc set, which is said to have an extra 10 minutes' footage included in the documentary. But after watching said documentary, I wonder what that extra 10 minutes consists of. The entire documentary clocks in at around 40 minutes long, not counting the 7 live tracks that are also on the DVD. Of that 40 minutes, I'm guessing about 15-20 minutes are comprised of nothing more than repeats of the same live footage that you can watch independently of the documentary. Although I really did enjoy seeing the interview portions of the documentary, despite having recently seen "This Is Spinal-Tap," and although I absolutely love the live cuts on the DVD, I admit to feeling a bit misled about the documentary, seeing as how nearly half of it is a re-run. But man...that live version of The Hellion/ Electric Eye damn near knocked me off the couch when I saw it--great stuff.

Which is one of the reason's I'm replacing my copy, the Dual Disk version only has snippets of the live tracks.

The new Judas Priest album is indeed fuckin' killer ... but "Lochness"?? What a fuckin' horrible track! It's a really poor attempt to emulate the epic songs crafted by Iron Maiden on their last two albums. That chorus is simply awful ...
Sorry ... but it's true. "Lochness" is one of the worst Priest songs I've ever had the misfortune to hear. And that includes everything on both the much maligned "Ram It Down" and "Demolition" albums!

Damn straight, Deathstroke ...
Now if you want to talk about instant Judas Priest classics ... "Judas Rising" (the lead-off track) gets my vote. :evilsmile
And "Hellrider"? Man ... absolutely stellar.

Judas Rising and Hellrider are excellent. Worth Fighting For is growing on me more each time I listen to it.

I say bah to the both of you :p
Judas Rising and Hellrider are excellent. Worth Fighting For is growing on me more each time I listen to it.
Agreed. Worth Fighting For feels like it could have been plucked right off of a classic Priest album and dropped onto this disc as a bonus track.
Demonizer kicks some serious metal ass as well. I especially like the way the song starts--it sounds like the song is literally ripping it's way out of the stereo.
