IDW is a GREAT publisher. I have been reading a lot of their stuff recently. The artists on almost all of their titles are superb. As I always pick up anything by Ashley Wood, I'm spending a lot on IDW's comics.

I'm currently reading Metal Gear Solid (only for Ash's art, the story is shit), Bloodsucker Tales (a sucker for the 30 Days franchinse, god knows how IDW is milking it dry), Containment (zombies and space! what more could I ask for, oh yeah and great art), Lore (Ashley Wood and his wife's baby, on my top 3 list of titles), and Supernatural Freak Machine (when it ships).

I was interested in that Lore title...I also definitely want to check out the Karney line when it comes out. Containment looks pretty cool as well. For some reason my local shop doesn't carry them...so i had Karney added to my pull...Lore's that good?

The only IDW title I get is CSI. It's a pretty good series.

If you like the tV show you might want to consider picking up a trade to see if you like it.

I get Bloodsuckers Tales ,Desparadoes, Grimjack and will be getting Jon Sable and Angel. I enjoy all the titles I get from them and the books have very high production quality. :D

I would suggest the following:

Popbot
Lore
Metal Gear Solid
Grande Fanta
Swallow
Aleister Arcane

IDW is a fine publisher of the side of comics. They have done a great job of cutting out their niche and are currently working on getting stuff out there that is a bit "lighter". You're gonna end up forking over some serious cash for these books, but, each title is worth the cover price. Happy shopping!

I love IDW. I highly recommend them. They're one of my fave small press publishers alongside Devil's Due. Yes, the issues generally are $1 more than the average but the production quality is really high. Thick cover and interior paperstock plus many issues give you a 3-4 p. short story (I wish more comics would do this) in addition to the standard 22 p. comic.

Currently I'm getting as monthlies

Bigfoot
Grimjack
Hell House
Containment
The Thief of Always

and when they're released I'll be adding

Mars
Dampyr
Jon Sable
Sword of Dracula
Shaun of the Dead
Supernatural Freak Machine: A Cal McDonald Mystery

Not to mention the seeming the ton's of their trades they release (anything 30 Days of Night, Singularity 7, Lore, Popbot, Spookhouse 1 & 2, Tales of Terror, Legend of Grimjack, Very Big Monster Show, Olympus Heights, Gene Pool, Vanishers, Aleister Arcane, Remains, Grande Fanta...). My shelf is full of IDW trades.

And I really hope this month's LitG rumor turns out true. If IDW picks up Fallen Angel I will jump for joy. FA would be at the top of my monthly IDW "gotta buy" list.

Word has it that Peter David's Fallen Angel will move to IDW.

Lore is DEFINATELY worth it. It's half comic and half novel. I love it, normal comics take me 5-10 minutes to read, each issue of Lore takes a good 20+ I'd say. Now there's your moneys worth. The writing is superb, beautiful british humour and very descriptive, almost feels like Gaiman sometimes. If you're not reading this, you've really got to give it a try, the TPB came out a couple of weeks back.

I have high hopes for IDW. They were already producing some quality work. Now with Mike Gold's involvement, it looks like they plan to revisit the glory days of First Comics. Grimjack is here. Mike Grell and Jon Sable are coming. Can there be more to follow? Maybe even Baron and Rude.

That last one is probably asking too much.

Nexus is back at Dark Horse.

While we're talking about great books of the 80's, IDW should look into bringing back Mr. Monster :)

I'll definitely agree that MR. MONSTER was a great book of the eighties, but it doesn't really need to be brought back, as it's never really left--Michael Gilbert's been sproadically releasing new material with the character for years, most recently for Atomeka Press just this past year:

The book from IDW I'm most looking forward to is Wynonna Earp: Yeti Wars by Beau Smith. How can you pass up a fight between Bigfoot and a Yeti??

Yeah, I bought that one. I like the new stuff, but I was mostly thinking the old stuff should be available, too. That means getting someone to continue with the Books of Forbidden Knowledge - IDW, Atomeka, whoever, I don't care. Just get the old stuff reprinted :)

Great publisher, huge abuse on the wallet. Have to very carefully pick and choose what I get from them, unfortunately...

Yep. Currently reading Metal Gear Solid and looking forward to CastleVania.

Castlevania should be good if Manhunter is any indication since both are by Marc Andreyko.

Too expensive. They act like their production values are revolutionray and leagues above anyone else, but the reality is, they are not. They are very nice, but other companies have and do offer books with the same for a dollar less.

I was really excited for the Smoke series drawn by Igor Kordey, but then saw that each 48 page issue would cost 7.50! Thats outrageous. Thats nearly paying a dollar per minute of reading time.

I would like to see them become more successful, simply so they will stop gouging the pockets of their fans.

I'll trust your word, my friend. I wonder if we'll see the good ol' Simon Belmont in that series.

Thing is - the of 30 Days.. has become so specific to IDW - I was surprised that Damn Nation was a Dark Horse comic!

I dunno about Simon, but Marc offered this on another MB:

"castlevania takes place during the time of christopher belmont. there are a bunch of new characters created especially for this mini-series, too! all the action begins on the night of chris' wedding and goes to hell (not literally) from there!"

He also mentioned Chris's relation to Simon, so we know he's at least aware of the character.

Thank you. Perhaps Simon is his father or something?

Containment has really beautifully done art. I'm loving the way his tones stay the same as they flow through the page. Pretty cool story too, zombies (with a trist) in space.

Metal Gear Solid
Silent Hill

I'd like to get a Silent Hill book too, but with those prices, sometimes even I am surprised to find myself buying them.
