OK, I realize that I am gushing here, but I really have to say how much I am enjoying this book. I just re-read the last issue and was again struck by how good the art was. In fact, there were a couple of times that the book had a “painted” quality about it, similar to what I experience while reading the lush Conan. I’ve seen Ross’s work before but this really is him working at the top of his game right here.

I can only assume that Ross’s artwork comes from the strength of the entire creative team, which of course includes Ron Marz as the writer. Sometimes a writer and artist will just click, like Ellis/Cassaday or Claremont/Silvestri, and the result is a great book that is as much to read as it is to look at, so props to Ross and Marz.

The story is pretty standard yarn of a man fighting against insurmountable odds to rescue the woman that he loves but Marz is able to keep the reader guessing. One might assume that the hero will rescue the girl but there’s ominous uncertainty to the book that makes me wonder if it will have a happy ending. That’s what makes this book so enjoyable because I think its conclusion is anything but certain.

I was unable to get the first and second issue,but for some reason my comic store had issue 3 today so I quickly bought it. I was happy there was a recap at the beginning that brought me up to speed. I really enjoyed the story and artwork all the scenes with the three musketeers were excellent.I must of re-read this book about 3 times. Hopefully my comic store will have issue 4&5 when they come out.

Well he should after I threa....I mean asked politely. I don't think he knew about the book until I mentioned it last week. Today a few people besides me picked it up when I was there so hopefully that will show him people will buy it.

Word of mouth almost prevented me from getting issue 3, walk into Midtown Comics NY. And almost had a heart attack...there were left, at least..10 copies. The usual thick stack, in a vertical stance...was wither down, to mere inches :D.

Excellent read once again.

I was a little concerned about his ability to understand the language in what seemed entirely too short a time, but such a minor quibble didn't detract from the story all that much.

Translation: For sure. Look at his funny clothes. He comes from India.

Caption 4: Chinois. Moi, j'dis qu'il est Chinois.
Translation: Chinese. Me, I say that he is Chinese.

Caption 5: Mais, qu'est-ce qu'il fait là?
Translation: But, what is he doing there?

Caption 6: Il dort à l'ombre de Notre-Dame. Voilà c'qu'il fait.

Last week, I bought issues #1-3 in one fell swoop as I was passing through Memphis on a business trip. One of my pals recommended it to me.

I read them all in one sitting and really enjoyed the work. Tremendously well done.

One of the best books I've read in a while.

Yeah, I figured that one line didn't fit with what was pictured. I wasn't familiar with the phrase and just assumed it was a figure of speech.

Oh, well, that line aside, I hope I gave a decent translation to those looking for one.
