I have mixed feelings about this. It is overall enjoyable. Absolutely stunning art by Cho, an interesting but not riveting story and a too high price tag at $3.50.
I like the Nazi experiment stuff, but except for Shanna, I don't care about any of the other characters. It also seems to be outside the Marvel Univ. as Shanna is named after the "girl in the comic book".

The first issue was ok it kind of spelled everything out but the second issue im a little disappointed and not sure if ill be picking up the third the art is great but ive no idea what the plot is or why i should care.
Except for the boobies, you have an Indiana Jones type story dressed in comic book cliches. Wow, how original!

To be honest, I think that's pretty much what Frank was going for. It's not meant to be Watchmen, y'know.

The book would have been a lot more enjoyable had Marvel gone with their original idea to make it a MAX series. Instead, they tried for more profits by going with a "general audience" concept. Can't fault them for wanting bigger sales but oh what a missed opportunity to see the MAX series live up to being something other than a gun & blood theater. Then again...they might have just upped the dino-gore and kept those annoying foreground objects covering up Shanna's fun-bits. Ah well. It's a great book, but could have been even better. :p
If Marvel really wants to show Shanna's boobies, the next mini-series could be Shanna the Showgirl (in the meantime, Marvel would lose what's left of the character's credibility)...

Shanna had credibility?

Obviously you guys never read the Bruce Jones/Brent Anderson Ka-Zar series in the 1980s.
I thought it odd that Marvel gave Cho a copy of the original Shanna series (which is, admittedly, bad) and didn't give him the critically praised Ka-Zar series which developed Shanna into a 3-dimensional character.

i could be wrong, but wasn't Shanna originally a pulp hero from the 30's? Shanna, Queen of the Jungle, or something like that...
Ka-Zar was a pulp hero too, so technically, it could still be in the MU, as they'd be referring to pulps that were printed before the company officially became Marvel Comics.

No...that's Sheena, Queen of the Jungle...an obvious inspiration for Shanna.

I dont expect it to be "Watchmen" but it would seem by now that some sort of actual story would be progressing the first issue i can understand introduces everything but it seemed by issue 2 would have some idea of where it was going. Regardless of boobies or not its a comic BOOK something thats supposed to be read if i wanted to look at boobies id surf for porn. Not pay 3 bucks at the comic shop to look at drawings of covered boobies

hbkabdul has loftier expectations than I:

I didn't go in with much expectation for this book, but I personally think it's doing...O.K. Certainly not something I'm going to go on and on about how great it is, but it's...adequate. The first issue was the set-up, the second illustrates the conflict with Shanna and introduces the "twist". Eh...I give it a "C" (putting "cup" after that would probably be too obvious a pun, right?).

...and inaccurate seeing that Shanna is easily a DD. Now there's an idea for a thread! "Debate the cup sizes of comic heroines!" :D

I've enjoyed this comic. As was pointed out earlier, I'm not looking for anything profound from it. More than anything, Cho's art alone is worth picking up the comic for me.
As I've said in another thread, what sold me on this comic was not Shanna's boobies (although Frank's skill at drawing the female figure has always made his comics easy on the eyes), it was actually the dinos. The panel of the velociraptor with flames behind him standing under a Nazi flag made me take a second look at this title in the comic shop.
If he can continue to draw some great reptile action (that sounds alittle lewd, I guess :) ), I'll buy it.

I'm going with 36DD. Or bigger in some panels! The whole thing seems like a Cavewoman ripoff to me. Meriem spends all her time in a lepard bikini killing dinosaurs and stuff too.

Hmm. May sound silly, but I've never heard of Cavewoman before. Is it still around? How long has it been around for and what issue is it on?
Might think about picking some of these up if they're any good. The artwork looks to be so. The dinos look like those drawn by Ricardo Delgado.

Judging by the annotations on a sketch of Brandy I saw on Cho's website (where he actually said she's DD), Shanna's almost definitely 36 DD as her and Brandy are almost identically drawn (even though Brandy is a little softer).

Cavewoman is an independant comic created by Budd Root and published by Basement Comics. I think that there is a series going on now that comes out every once in awhile. Cavewoman: Pangean Sea. I've read a few books, they are usually fun, but just an excuse to see some T&A. What comes out mostly are pin-up books by either Budd Root or Devon Massey. Frank Cho pencilled one or two one shots, I think.
I can't link to the website due to some comic nudity, but it's basementcomics and the usuall web stuff.
