I've been wanting to pick this up, thought I haven't seen it anywhere. But before I go looking, can anyone tell me where it fits into the series chronologically? I'm only up to the fifth trade (issue #35). Oh, and a general consensus...good or bad?

Do you mean NIRVANA, the prestige format one-shot with Jon Muth art? Or is this something else?
If it's the former, it's not really connected to the series' continuity. I don't think the overall story arc is even mentioned. NIRVANA is just a nice little, beautifully painted story about a woman coping with her husband's suicide and some cosmic forces who involve her in a complex plot to attack Lucifer. It's slight, but it's very well done.

Thanks for the lowdown, Ex.D. That most likely is the one I was thinking of. :)

The art was good, but the story left me a little cold

You aren't missing much. I have it but never read it after the first time. It is probably the weakest Lucifer story Carey's ever written. I remember reading a Carey interview about Nirvana. He said he pitched many Lucifer OGN story ideas but Karen Berger didn't like any of them until he offered the one where a contract is put out on Lucifer.
Why Berger liked that idea but none of the others I have no idea. It's really cliched and given the type of persona Lucifer is I think that premise was doomed from the start. But she liked it so it was made. *shrug*

Sean,
It fits into chronology around Lucifer #20 or so. The spreadsheet off this page lists all Lucifer (as in Neil Gaiman's Lucifer) manifestations in the DCU and their original date of publication. Nirvana came out in the late 20s, but its events place it back in the low 20s.
