Best of luck with your sale, adeptus-- many of these comics are out of print and this would make a nice starting collection. $6 each for 20(?) books isn't too bad considering how old they are and being in mint condiiton and including postage (which can be killer).

'think so? I'm not so sure, ya I'm a relatively new fan but I have been scanning (scouring really) e-bay and I've never even seen this kind of thing come up - let alone at something like 7 bucks an issue. I'm happy so far! :)

guys I can't tell you how excited I am to (hopefully) soon have a whole set of the first run comics. I first saw most of Hellboy this way and fell in full-on Mignola love with a friend's treasured copies. When I got my own Hellboys they were in TPB format and I was a little let down. Some of the visual subtleties were gone. I'm the type of person to whom those subtleties mattered

Congrats Morna. This is actually a very good deal. You've seen the trouble people have had tracking down a set of The Third Wish. Plus, all of these are said to be in mint condition. Nice snag!

I would think the TPBs are a more accurate printing of what was intended by Mike. It's not so much that subtleties were lost as it was the first way you saw the work. The difference between papers alone create a big difference in the way the color saturates the work.

Tad: well.. I'm sure you're right, but my experience was that the colours were more overt on the TPBs, and I prefer the more subtle and muted look of the pulp comics. Personal preference but the darker spongier paper makes the whole thing a shade more dark and mysterious.

A completist? yes - a maniac? well.......yes :p But I HAVE sold my original original Hellboy comics once they were out in TPB format.
I still have Conqueror Worm # 2 though - with a very insightfull letter from yours truely.

I'm surprized that you sold your orignals. Actually.
I am looking forward to seeing the letters - yours and Ricks and all the other hellboarders who show up there in print. And I'm really pumped to see the Monkeyman and O'Brien(sp?) strip from Art Adams in the Seed of Destruction set. I've never seen it.

Morna - I´m not worried yet. It´s only 3 weeks and half way around the world. :)

And I have a huge collection of comics, so I only need one version of a book. Too bad I didn´t keep them, I would have sent them to you. I like the originals too, but the quality of the trades is so high I´m satisfied with them.

Once Dark Horse publishes "The collected short-stories of Mike Mignola" I´m selling my Mask / Dark Horse Presents / Weasel / Amazing Screw-on Head etc. issues.
I´m still holding on to my Hellboy Jr.´s - are you interested ? :)

The Monkeyman and O´Brien stories I have in the Mm&OB Special. I collect Arthur Adams too - big surprise ;)
I would recommend his "Creature Features" TPB. collecting his "Godzilla" and "Creature from the Black Lagoon" stories.

I'm probably the exception to that, I don't have ANY with the exception of the 'wake the devil' graphic novel. Wich doesn't really count I guess, I'd ratherhave the original prints. I would've taken you up on those had I the funds for them! Oh well, I imagined I'd have to get them all off ebay anyway...

I can only afford collecting TPBs (thus I havn't gotten my hands on Third Wish for example!!) - although I'm happy with not having to skip ads every second page - but those pics do make me jealous!!

There´s no adds every second page in the single issues. Only in the back of the issue.
