C'mon, we all have one or two...those Avengers that we will not admit we like for , those Avengers that for whatever reason never made it into the A-list:
Mine is Silverclaw...Just love her and IMO she has lots of untapped potential.
What's your "lame" Avenger?

Well,I don't particularly like any of the ones that I think are "lame".
It would be easier to list the ones that I DO like so I think I'll just do that instead. :D
Thor
Iron Man
Hulk
Giant Man
The Wasp
Captain America
Hawkeye
Scarlet Witch
Black Panther
The Vision
Captain Marvel
Black Widow
The Beast
Ms. Marvel
The Falcon
She-Hulk
Captain Marvel/Photon
Sub-Mariner
Moon Knight
Human Torch I
Sersi
Captain Britain
Spider-Man
Spider-Woman I
Anybody NOT on that list I think was probably kinda lame but I don't really like those ones so there ya go. ;)

Dude, the Vision is not lame! Just color blind!
Not sure if Wonderman falls into the lame category or not (I certainly don't think he's lame). But he's definately my fave Avenger that isn't given the props he deserves.
I really liked Quasar and Sersi too. Again, I wouldn't quallify them as lame, but they're not exactly big name Avengers that I personally appreciated a lot.
Moon Knight I really liked. And I'm more comfortable putting him in the lame category, even though he's a character with a lot of potential if done right.

We're going to have to define "lame" on this thread. When I think of lame (and yes, I'm going to include "honorary" members on this list), I think of:
Deathcry
Rage
Sandman
Demolition Man
Silverclaw
Triathlon
Dr. Druid
Gilgamesh
Masque
Stingray
and maybe a couple others that I've missed. I agree that there's definitely a top tier of Cap, Iron Man, Thor and maybe a second tier of Vision, Scarlet Witch, Wonder Man, etc. but when I think of "lame," I'm thinking of characters who really had no business being in the Avengers to begin with.

Now, see, I would say that crappy, edgy Herc was "lame," but party-boy, brawling Herc was pretty darn cool.

I quite like Stingray, Dr. Druid and Deathcry, but my favourite 'lame' Avenger would probably be Rage. I didn't like him at all during his Avengers run, but his development as a New Warrior made me a fan of the character.

For those who mentioned Silverclaw as lame...what in your opinion makes her so, if you can put a finger on it?
I'm just curious, because I always loved her and then after I was "introduced" to the online community, I realized that a lot of people find her not worth the effort.
I would love to hear what some people think makes her lame.

The term "lame" has more negative connotations than I guess I mean when I label a character like Silverclaw (although, sorry, Deathcry forever and always will be in my definition of lame, no matter what). I just thought she was never in the same class as the rest of the Avengers, not that Silverclaw is the most horrible character in the world.
If you get down to it, I felt that Marinna, Starfox and even Namor weren't meant for the Avengers, even though I like the characters and wouldn't call them "lame," necessarily. I always thought Avengers membership should be more exclusive and characters like Crystal, Darkhawk, Rage, et al just never seemed to "fit."
But, then again, I never in a million years would have thought the Beast would make a good Avenger before he joined and, as it turned out, I like the Beast in the Avengers far more than I like him in the X-men.
Sometimes experimenting with new characters on the roster has worked and sometimes not. I always thought Jack of Hearts would be a perfect Avenger and then he didn't work out as well as I would have liked.

Jocasta - her origin is fantastic, her powers are formidiable, her look is cool, she should have been a winner instead of being the token sacrificial lamb on too many occasions. There are so many directions this character could go, and too many untapped storylines, such as how Jan really feels about her, which to the best of my knowledge has never been addressed outside of her origin issues, how Hank feels about her and about her neverending quest to belong and feel needed. I thought it was great when she was in Stark's mainframe, just 'cause somebody was using the character again, only to disappear, yet again. Since Vision is gone for now, I would love to see Jocasta as the resident powertool in the New Avengers.

Favorite lame Avenger? I feel we had so many poor choices for Avengers. Hard to pick a favorite one.
Golaith II. Why have our hotheaded marksman ditch the bow and arrows? That was lame the first time it happened and beyond belief the second time it happened.
hawkeye, i guess he was cool, even if h did shoot arrows from a normal bow, against supervillains....
and I agree, Wasp is cool, esp., as a founding member.
hawkeye, i guess he was cool, even if h did shoot arrows from a normal bow, against supervillains....

But her dialogue back then had her chasing any guy in tight pants...
And even after that she was a bit stuck up and superior. I agree she got cool later in the original book's run but she was a bit iffy.

Swordsman and Mantis. They were lame in the way that the Swordsman was really good with sword and Mantis became one with the Cosmos(okay, she had some sweet martial arts moves, but it was an era Kung Fu!). I guess that lame may be a bit harsh, but as Avengers, they just seem to be around so they could have their big moment and then leave.

Silverclaw is consistently called "lame" whenever her name comes up.
I love her, personally...I think she has great potential...if any writer used her...!
I really really like her powers and her background...I think it's cool to see other world mythologies explored in comics, besides just Greek and Nordic.
(Then again, her birthplace is a fictional country, but its history and legends are clearly patterned after Old World South American gods and godesses)

Yeah, they were my favorites. Well, sometimes Mantis treated Swordsman like crap, and I didn't like to see that, but overall, they were pretty cool. Swordsman was Hawkeye's mentor and was about the same power level, but he wasn't afraid to fight dirty to get the job done. It was a shame when he died, because there was still a lot of potential to explore, the kind of issues that have been dealt with other reformed villains in Thunderbolts. And Mantis was always fun to watch, because she was basically just a martial artist, but at her best, she could even take Thor down with a single blow, so it was always exciting to watch her in combat.

I gotta agree with that...started off as a villian, posing that he wanted to join the avengers, turned out to be bad, then goes on to attack the avengers with Powerman and Black widow, eventually hires out to Red Skrull to attack Captain America in his own book, then tourcher him with a Bucky robot... and still can't get it right as he joins Batroc, before FINALLY, finally, getting his act together and befriends that vixon Mantis...then DIES!
GOSH, HE'S ALMOST AS BAD AS THAT LAME BLACK KNIGHT!
Think about it... they've both got sharp swords that they brandish and charge into battle with, yet thanks to the comics code and the black knight's curse (thank you Roger Stern) they can't use their weapons as intended...to stab, slash or hack a human being! Talk about a dilema....

Unfortunately, the reason he is listed by some fans as lame (not "lame") is because of his name. Even though he has absolutely NOTHING to do with the most powerful and recognizable heroine in the DC Universe, some fans think anybody calling himself "Wonder Man" must be a Wonder Woman wannabe.

You're referring to that series (I don't know the name) which imagines that there is some secret group dedicated to keeping superheroes off the West Coast. Since Wonder Man is very much a superhero and also very much based in Los Angeles, this comic book explained that "Wonder Man [not Wonderman] doesn't count."
So, do I qualify as "someone" now?

this brings up an interesting point. would Henry Pym, considered a classic Lee/Kirby creation by many, be considered an A-Lister? Lang was, undisputedly, able to replace Pym for a number of years. he was invited to join the Avengers and turned them down (initially). he was invited to join the Fantastic Four and turned them down. he was a close ally of Iron Man at one point and, out of costume, was definately considered one of his A-List employees (one of the few to be trusted during the Armor Wars). he was good enough to date Jessica Jones. He was good enough to supposedly provide an impactful death during Disassembled. And he was good enough to pass on a legacy to his daughter; so much so that she could just walk up to the Young Avengers and join. so i'm trying to figure out what the cut-off is. what hurdles do you have to jump to become an "A-Lister?" i'd ask the same about other supposed Avengers B-Listers (Black Knight, Hercules, etc).

I think the whole A-list/B-list thing is misleading anyway. Almost any character can become popular if a writer champions their cause. Personally, I think Scott Lang is more of a superhero than Hank ever was. Don't get me wrong. I love Hank. But to me, Scott is the more provocative character and the better hero. And as you point out, he left a legacy in Cassie--a strong character in her own right.
As for what the A-list/B-list cut off is... Like I said, I think the terminology is misleading, but I generally assume people are referring to established, conventionally popular characters like Thor or Captain America. I just know I normally end up falling in love with the guy or woman who gets shafted so an allegedly more popular character can get more panel time. :(

Gilgamesh. Seriously.
It's really for one scene alone, but it's always stuck with me. Avengers #304, the new Avengers team (Cap, Thor, Gil) are out and about and come across the U-Foes and Portal. At the end, Ironclad of the U-Foes is still up, and Gilgamesh, in street clothes, hands in pockets, calmly walks up to him. Then, one punch, knocks him the **** out.

I agree with you, except I would have to include as A-listers, characters who are so identified with the Avengers that, even though they do not have their own book, are special to the group. This would include Hawkeye, Vision, Scarlet Witch and, possibly Quicksilver.
