Well, since everyone else has got an art thread, I thought I’d start my own up, just to distract and annoy ;)
My first offering is, sadly, not Hellboy related (hopefully have some stuff on that subject fairly soon) but IS an unfinished pencilled page of the strip I’m doing for a small press magazine in the UK called Commercial Suicide. It’s called Velocity Girl vs The Chavengers.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v66/longmanshort/page2mini.jpg
For our American friends, the Chav is an English phenomenon - essentially a working class oik, often dressed entirely in Burberry, baseball cap and gold jewellry. The men are spotty and chubby or thick-set and ignorant, the women are either fat and brunette or stick thin and and bottle blonde. In the first frame are the Chavengers: (from left) Single Mum, Misinformed Idiot, the Ciggie Sisters and Blingmaster. Velocity Girl is the upperclass Jocasta Drake who, when she’s not saving Britain from the teeming masses, is an idle ‘It Girl’ with a male Swedish entourage and a love of skinny dipping in the Maldives.
I didn’t write this, by the way. I’m just following orders ... ;)
It’s not perfect (lots of deadlines) but I’m fairly pleased with it. More to follow over time ...

And this is a poster I did for an irregular gathering of Judge Dredd and 2000AD fans in Leeds (a 'Tyke' is someone born in Leeds, by the way) He's meant to look like a Yorkshire parody of a Brit-Cit judge ... didn't quite work though as he appears to have a tortoise on his right shoulder

Fun stuff. I like the people smoking in the first panel.

Heh, cheers T-wyrm!
To be honest, a bit ashamed to be posting anything on here considering the quality of everyone else's art thread ...
Hellboy stuff in the future, I promise ...

I like the panel of the super-woman screaming. Reminds me a bit of a Bakshi drawing.
I'll be waiting for the Hellboy drawing L

Got bored while sketching and decided to try a couple of 'interpretations' of HB ...
Not great, but as I said, I was bored ;)
Edited to remove the MASSIVE pic that had suddenly appeared here

LMS in Hellboy drawing update shock!
Heh, while cleaning out my files I came across the birthday card I did for my mate Ollie, a fantastic artist and the guy who got me into Hellboy! It's a bit rough and ready, but I'd forgotten when his birthday was and had to do this the night before ...
Boirthday Card #1 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v66/longmanshort/oli2.jpg)
Boithday Card #2 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v66/longmanshort/final2.jpg)
And, after one or two flase starts, I'm finally starting to get a version of HB I like - I don't want to ape Mignola, so I'm trying to get a face that could theoretically exist ... kinda. I'm planning on doing a four page HB strip set in the part of Leeds where I live, so I'm just getting comfortable with drawing him in the first place. It's rough, ready and a little ungainly but I'm getting there :D

My God - the man's gone DRAWING KERAZEEEE!!!!!
Well, not quite, but I did decide to do something with my evening. This is just a rough sketch, roughly photoshopped, as a kind of frontispiece/inspiration thingy for the story I'm planning: The Weeping Tree.
Hope you like :)

That last one is really awesome. I love the way you drew HB's face, and that little goblin dude is kickass, what with the sweet teeth and the butt, and all.

Cheers ers! Took me a while to get HB's face just as I wanted it and now I've realised his chest's a bit low and the coat makes him look like a giraffe! Oh well, you live and learn. Now to go and take some scenery shots - which just happen to be next to the pub :D

Hi everyone!
I know I've been away for too long, but have finally managed to change jobs (am now a press officer - a case of poacher turned game keeper) and have been producing the second issue of The End is Nigh (which really DID take up all my time...).
So, please forgive my absence; I have been keeping an eye on the forum and it's nice to see it's as vibrant as ever! Hopefully I can now contribute a bit more!
Just to let you know what I've been up to recently ...
Well, there's this:
Opening page of Futurequake strip (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v66/longmanshort/main.jpg)
and then there's this bad boy:
The End is Nigh #2 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v66/longmanshort/covernew.gif)
So, hi again, hope to speak to you all again soon.

Hi Mike, you sound terrifically busy. In fact, it's as if you're the guy in the front with his tonsils exposed, busy running away from the alien invasion and just popping in on his way to the bunker to say "hi". :)
Good luck with the new job!

Heh, cheers! It's a bit overwhelming at the mo, but on Thursday will take possession of my lovely new (i.e. from second-hand store) drawing board!! With stand!!! So that will hopefully inspire me to put my drawing hat back on ...
