Oh come on...this is *great* news. Shopro is essentially Viz, and they did kickass jobs with Ranma 1/2 and Inu-Yasha...it'd be better if Inu-Yasha was more interesting, but they did what they could. The dub studio they use is usually really good, too. And it's very likely that it'll either get on Toonami or Adult Swim.

Yeah....Ranma is one of the best dubs around.....InuYasha I don't like as much....mostly cause the voice they got for inuyasha is pretty crummy....

Well, the voice for Inu-Yasha is the same as the voice for Ranma. Personally I think he gets the character pretty well.

...who exactly did NarutoFan want for this? It's not like ADV or Bandai do much Shonen Anime, and the only other choices out there are Funimation (Which I wouldn't have minded seeing) and 4Kids (Aww hell naw).

They wouldn't have to edit the hell out of it... a little blood clean-up, some cropping and static pans and a few language redubs, like in Yu Yu Hakusho. It most likely won't work on Adult Swim because it's not as dark or as deep as shows like Cowboy Bebop, GitS: Stand Alone Complex or even FMA and Big O. Hell, DBZ and Yu Yu Hakusho are the same kind of show as Naruto, and they're Toonami Flaghsip shows.

EDIT: Yep. Cartoon Network confirmed that they'll be adding six new shows to Toonami this year - Zatch Bell in March, The Batman in April, One Peice in May, Naruto in the 3rd quarter, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo in the 4th quarter and a full-series version of IGPX at some unspecified time.

Attacking Gaara in the desert is even dumber than attacking Russia in the winter. At least in theory, an army from an equally cold or colder climate won't fare too bad as long as they keep a supply line maintained. Russia doesn't have a Hidden Snow village full of shinobi who can manipulate ice. Sand has a guy whose big move is creating freakin' avalanches out of the surrounding terrain.

Bah, Iruka. Naruto surpassed him in the very first chapter. (Well, not really, but it seemed like it.) And yet he's the fourth most popular character in Japan. Thank you, you silly yaoi fangirls and your crazy KakaIru doujinshi obsession! At least this ought to be the last time we see Iruka in several months, so we can get on to more important characters like Lee, Neji, Hinata, Ino, the other Akatsuki, and Tenten. Okay, maybe not Tenten.

But yeah, I'd have to say I want to see Hinata the most. Preferably Hawt Hinata so that Naruto can realise her cuteness.

I basically wound up reading the entire manga today, and wow a few things.

1) This series is amazing for alot of reasons, but one of the biggest is the fact they made such a huge cast, detail them all and keep pace with a story. Every single one of the Leafs and Sand guys you really get into their heads and history. It's awesome

2) At first I wanted to know where all the Sasuke hate was coming from. Angsty jerk I got it, but man there last fight together and his cold shoulder of Sakura before then. I wanted to punch him myself. Jerkface is a freaking compliment to him.

3)Kazekage Gaara is the coolest thing ever, I loved seeing Shikamaru telling everyone has been promoted, Naruto asking about Gaara and them cutting to him as head of the village. Awesome awesome

4) I want to see Rock Lee the most, he's become my favorite character and I really hope he's completely recovered from the surgery and has pumped up his speed to some really sick levels and maybe a new gate or two.

In any case she won't be able to perform two-handed jutsus now, and is falling through the air with a pile of sand latched to her... OTOH it seems a bit early to kill off an Akatsuki member, so Sasori's probably gonna be bailing her out next week.

My biggest question (and the only way I can think to make that Akatsuki look smart) is whether or not that person's body is a construct as well, operating at extremely long range. That would make some of the comments about art make more sense, to me at least. A long range puppet would also be useful in drawing out the semi-psycho Gaara to a place where they can fight him without cutting through every other member of the Sand to do so.

In defense of that...

Itachi apparently > Orochimaru > Sandaime Hokage > any other individual ninja in the Leaf

Kisame = (strong jounin at minimum) > rank-and-file ninja of jounin and lesser rank

I'd say equal, Remember he took on two Zombie Hokages and then Orochimaru.

Orochimaru would've lost that fight if Sarutobi had enough Chakra to pull out his soul completely.

edit: I also didn't get the impression that Itachi > Orochimaru, its just that Orochimaru is afraid of him because of his Sharigan eye, that can 1) steal all his forbidden Jutsu's with a glance, and 2) send him into an agonizing 48 hours of hell in a blink of an eye that there is no defense against another than another Sharigan Eye or not looking the user in the eye.

And remember there's still Sasori somewhere, plus that sleeper Jounin. We can't be sure exactly what the plan is yet.

A lot of ninjas are overconfident to the point of stupidity. Look at Asuma when confronting Itachi and Kisame. He should have been even closer to pissing himself than Kakashi was when facing down Orochimaru, yet he was totally confident that he and Kurenai could win. Crazy.

Bird-girl seemed to be aware of Gaara's abilities, as she mentions the "power of human sacrifice" which refers to Shukaku and the sand control, though she probably didn't know how great his control had become. Sasori actually asked if she would be okay with just her bag, which is an impressive amount of concern for an Akatsuki member to show. (And she does have mouths on both hands, but since she uses a two-handed seal to activate her arts & crafts, she ought to be done for this fight.)

If you look closely at the manga, when s/he pulls out the explosive birds she has two bags she's going through, which would leave one to believe she has two mouthhands. I joked somewhere else that the akatsuki person probably has an armregen no justsu, or maybe we'll see how badass an one armed atusaki member can be.

I don't know since I started reading the manga in...what...early October? Can't remember exactly.

Well Gaara is from Wind Country and his home is the Villiage of the Sand in the middle of a dessert.

That said, it has to with the saying that Sarutobi said as he died about how a leaf burns I think.

The entire country is also not a forest, just the area around the village hidden in the leaves.

From what we know the Leaf village was founded by the Shodaime because he had a unique ability with plants. Presumably he was a Fire Country native so he founded it there.

The villagers' hatred towards Naruto hasn't been a factor since Chapter 2. The most we've seen since then is just people underestimating Naruto, which is understandable since even non-villagers like Tazuna, Zabuza and Gaara didn't think much of Naruto when they first met him.

Well, we pretty much exclusively see Naruto interacting with the other ninjas in the village, and most of them have long since been forced to admit they'd misjudged him. I suppose some of the civilians may still dislike/distrust him, but they don't matter much to the story...

I was pretty impressed with the fight on both sides. I was kind of surprised since I figured that it'd go on for longer.

Then again, I'm 0 for a lot on predicting part 2.

When they said there was a chuunin exam in Sand and Jiraiya warned the Sand about an attack by Akatsuki, I had Team 7's next mission figured as Naruto entering the chuunin exam, with his pals coming along for moral support, but they're actually there for the Akatsuki attack.

But he skipped over the two chapters of Akatsuki guys patting themselves on the back about what badasses they are and what an awesome plan they've got while Team 7 travels to aid Gaara.

This does raise a kind of interesting point though.

Jiraiya has a spy that gets info about the Akatsuki. And he's the guy that warned Sand.

Akatsuki seemed to think that Orochimaru betrayed them to Sand.

There's gotta be a pretty short list of people that have info on Akatsuki. Could Orochimaru be the one feeding Jiraiya info about Akatsuki's long range plans?

I'd still think he's a worm and would be #1 on my list of characters to get killed painfully, but it'd add an interesting element to him.

I don't think that Gaara is knocked out. It looked like his eyes were still open while he was falling. So he's probably just out of chakra after having to fend off lots of bombs and then drag the desert over the village to keep Artsuki from nuking it and then not burying the village.

Or maybe he's playing possum so that he'll have more room to work although the next chapter hints seem to dismiss that.

I believe it's one that just came out. The story that had Sakura get some of her hair cut off, getting saved by those three ninjas whose names escape me (I shall call them rival girl, "Don't call me fat!" guy, and some other guy) and Sasuke going Riot of Blood/Cured Seal against those Sound guys, whilst Naruto took a little nap not of his own accord. I don't remember the chapter number though. Check a copy of Jump at a supermarket or a bookstore, chances are that'll be the featured chapter. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

We now have the title for the second Naruto movie that will be released in theaters this August the 6th. The title for the new movie is: Naruto: Gekijyouban Naruto Daigekitotsu! Maboroshi no Chiteiiseki Dattebayo!! - which translates in to English as: Naruto: Naruto's big clash in the Theatre! The illusion of the ruins of the depths of the earth!! - we have learned the movie will mainly focus on Uzumaki Naruto and Nara Shikamaru, but also along on this journey are Haruno Sakura and Sabaku no Gaara (Gaara of the Desert). Interesting to note it does not look like Uchiha Sasuke or really any other character we are used to will be making an appearance. Things should get juicy as the final release date in to theaters nears. No details on the plot are known yet.

I mean Gamabunta appears on the first page of the manga even though he doesn't actually show up for another 90 chapters. And it's clear that he was setting up Sakura, Naruto and Jerkface as the new Sannin since then as well (check the early chapter title pages for them riding giant animals and stuff).

I think he probably changed the series to include more of the other characters once they became popular, and I'm certain that Chouji was originally supposed to die.

I thought Chouji was dead too, but now that we know differently, I think Kishimoto planned for him to survive from the beginning. The medicine that saved his life was foreshadowed before the chase arc when Shikamaru and his pop talked to Tsunade about their deer and the medicinal properties of antlers.

There's an old Japanese tradition of the Slug, the Snake and the Toad, and each is vulnerable to one and dominates over the other, similar to Rock Paper Scissors. That was probably there from the beginning, and the Seinnin thing was built from that.

I agree. I meant it as a joke because she's had so little screen time and characterization so far.

She was the first to introduce hints about Tsunade when she said that she wanted to be like her.

She lost to Temari (which isn't exactly a bad feat, although using something besides distance weapons against somebody with wind powers would've been good).

She is a good enough ninja to have helped Rock Lee cheat on the first chuunin exam. She was both smart enough to think outside the box and sneaky enough to not get caught.

She knows a lot about Neji's powers and got to be the explanation person.

And she was beaming at Rock Lee right before the break in the manga which suggests that she's crushing on him. But she apparently never visited him in the hospital (or at least, she didn't buy him flowers).

Not a heck of a lot over 250 issues. She's probably due for some.

I'd kind of like to see her hook up with Rock Lee. It'd be really interesting to see him with a girlfriend, making those "score" poses.

Plus the bugs. I think that anyone that has bugs crawling out of their body automatically qualifies as scary.

They may have gotten a rapid promotion deal(which also may explain how the entire class in the Hidden Leaf village had reached Chuunin status whereas when Naruto participated only Shikamaru became a Chuunin)but they were no slouches themselves.

Anyway, I'm not surprised that they got promoted. I assume that the only reasons that they weren't chuunins to begin with was to help them infiltrate Konoha. (I guess that logic doesn't work perfectly since it implies that they were planning the invasion for a long time, but it seems to be what Kishi was aiming for.) So they probably got a promotion right afterwards (or perhaps after the mission for the Leaf as their final test) since they were being allowed to run around without a babysitter.

... the partner asks scorpion-guy who his target is, and scorpion guy says it doesn't matter so long as it's a jinchuuriki. Very non-specific, which seem to me to suggest more than just Naruto as a possible target.

It's possible that the leader of the Akatsuki is a demon vessel of course. That would be interesting. And also make a certain amount of sense, since so far each of the Akatsuki has represented a different type of life (Itachi - mammal, Kisame - fish, Flytrap - plant, Deidara - bird, Sasori - arachnid, Orochimaru - snake), so if the leader was the demon category that would work.

Is there any reason they have to be demon children? I thought it was just a coincidence that Gaara and Naruto had demons bound to them at the same time, but if that happened in seven other places at the same time, it suggests that either there was something serious in the works from the demons or there was another consipiracy like Akatsuki (or an earlier incarnation of Akatsuki). Seems like they'd have kept the demon kids around, but maybe they didn't want the trouble. They don't seem to be the parenting type.

It seems like if Gaara would only think that Naruto knows what it's like to be lonely, he'd be less impressed with Naruto overcoming that hurdle.

As for all being children, I thought they mentioned that sealing at birth helped keep the vessel alive. I would assume that being with the demon from birth helped the body handle the demonic energies.

Mythologically speaking, IIRC, it's either a priest who became a tanuki or a tanuki who disguised himself as a priest. And I don't mean "either" in the sense that I can't remember, I mean it is actually told both ways.

And yeah, it seems clear that you need to have the demon sealed inside you either before or just after birth. But there's no reason why a demon vessel would have to be the same age as Naruto and Gaara.

Maybe originally. But that calls into question Kabuto's statements about Kimimaro. Kabuto seemed a little miffed he couldn't break the medical records on Kimimaro, at least without a body handy to autopsy. Seemed he felt he might have been able to pull off at least a half-assed version if he could figure that stuff out. That would indicate that that blood-limit was at least partially due to heavy tinkering on the human body. The tinkering gets passed down, and the next gen can be adjusted even more, over and over again.

The way I see it, the Siblings are probably the founders of the Sand village. That way Sasori being the grandson of one makes sense - remember that Tsunade is the granddaughter of the Shodaime Hokage.

Kakashi's dad killed the legendary woman's son... ie Sasori's dad. So much for Kankurou and Shino taking him down, it's going to be all Kakashi!

Oh, and Naruto does a taijutsu exchange with the legendary woman using an instant Kage Bunshin that he formed in mid air... and comes off better than her.

Basically it goes like this: Naruto and Kakashi enter a room, with Naruto being behind Kakashi. The old woman freaks out and tries to kill Kakashi, but Naruto:

1) Moves in front of Kakashi either with pure speed or the Shunshin while the woman is in mid leap.
2) Removes his backpack
3) Blocks the woman's punch easily
4) Creates a Kage Bunshin seemingly instantly without seals, and forms it in mid air so that it can punch her (which she blocks).

The old woman is then flung backwards by this exchange while Naruto is impressed but stationary.

This is a LEGENDARY woman. She's said to be the second greatest medic nin in the world after Tsunade (though Sakura has apparently surpassed her). And she's old, so she's not as strong as she was in her prime, but just look at the Third and how well he did against Orochimaru.

Naruto is so fucking awesome. This is totally without the Kyuubi or any new jutsus that we know he's learned.

Nah, not until a couple more people can use it as a teasing point. Like Team 8 hiring Naruto (a lower class ninja) for Hinata's birthday party, something like that.

Probably needs to occur in a different village, too. Mist or Stone, in my opinion. Mist-nin since random missing-nin show up so often, I want to see the village that they come from. Stone has been shown to be a long-term rival of Fire, due to the flashback arc, so seeing that would be interesting, too.

I almost feel sorry for Akatsuki, they'll now be facing 5 Jounin(Once Kankuro gets back up, though he'll either have to find some new puppets or fix the old ones), 3 Chuunin, and 1 Genin who's at least a top tier Chuunin level in skill.

Yeah, Baki, a Kakashi-level guy from the Sand, sweating because of what Naruto did almost purely in taijutsu... Naruto's classic weakpoint.

But the real shocker is Sakura's "WTF?!" panel... You'd think if he had shown her what he was capable of during the bell test she wouldn't have really been surprised, mm? So this strongly suggests that Naruto was holding back before (more than just the Kyuubi and his super jutsus).

Slay and I have come to the conclusion that this Sakura is actually an entirely new character, because it's impossible to reconcile Sakura from part one and this Sakura from part two.

It's not so shocking, really. To me, Konohamaru looked like he was about eight or nine when he was introduced in chapter 2. The time skip took roughly two-and-a-half years, and there was at least a few months in between Naruto's assignment to Kakashi and Valley of the End.

I figure Konohamaru's 11, perhaps even 12. Plus, Naruto failed the graduation exam more than once. If that exam is given only once a year, and Konohamaru never failed it, he's right about the age to become a genin.

It's Kakashi and Itachi, who became genins, respectively, at ages *five* and *seven*, who are amazing.

The thing is though that they just graduated, as Konohamaru is now wearing the head proctecor instead of the goggles, which he wore in the first chapter post Time Skip. And what's with everyone's allergies acting up? Generally that means someone is talking behind their back, but we don't see any of that(maybe except in Tsunada's case)
