Hey there, I'm a big chuck dixon fan and I've been enjoying the recent Nightwing: Year One story. I have Robin:Year One, but how about the Batgirl mini-series. Is it worth picking up?

For sure! I really liked it. Great art, a well thought out story, and nice characterization for Babs. Even better than Robin: Year One.

Absolutely worth it. I bought this some time ago and was astonished by how much I enjoyed it.

Well, in a word, yes. :)

The Robin and Batgirl stories are by the same writers as Nightwing.

Batman: Year One is a classic by Frank Miller.

If you liked those other two, you will definitely like Batgirl as well.

As an addendum, you might also want to pick up Batman Chronicles #5, this has the Oracle: Year One story in it.

I loved all these Year One books, including the Oracle one in Batman Chronicles #5. It sounds kinda cheap using this title over and over, but somehow the stories are all fantastic and give you a great view of the character.

Had no idea there was an Oracle: Y1. How long ago was that written?

The Oracle story was published in 1996. It's just a single issue, not a mini like the others. Good reading, though.

Batgirl: Year One is an incredible TPB, I really enjoyed it, definately more so than Robin: Year One.. I wouldn't hesitate to reccomend it for a second.

Batgirl is the best of the three 'Year One' books IMO - the arts fantastic. Highly recommended.

Ahem, there are 4 Y1s, 5 if you count JLA:Y1.
And Batman Year 1 is the best Bat story, ever.
But Robin and Batgirl are both good, although the Nightwing and BoP "foreshadows" are a little cheesy.

Sorry, should have made it clear I was talking about the Dixon year one books (I think there are only 3 of those  - robin, batgirl and nightwing pending )

Very true about Batman : Year One being the best bat story ever - one of my all time favourtie trades...

If you want to count JLA: Y1, you could also count The Flash: Born to Run and Green Lantern: Emerald Dawn.

I liked Batgirl: Year One quite a bit, but the whole line of 'em is a sorry ripoff of the Frank Miller classic, IMHO. I kinda wish they'd come up with their own titles.

Huh? What are you talking about?

He's talking about the fact that they're all using the Year One title used originally in Batman: Year One. It's more of a brand name than a rip-off though. Batman: Year 1 came out back to back with year 2 so I doubt the title of Year One was Frank Miller's idea anyway.
