with the current events of the DCU, JLA hasnt really been in the DCU storylines. Team books like Outsiders, Teen Titans, and JSA are dealing with the events of "Identity Crisis" and the JLA book isnt. Plus, the book's really boring right now, which makes me wonder if DC just forgot about this book...

Regarding the pacing, it's getting better. The most recent issue was pretty good.
As for JLA getting left out of the IC/COUNTDOWN mix . . . I don't know. They're still working through material from the "rotating creative teams" deal they tried to get going after Kelly moved over to JL: ELITE. Maybe that has something to do with it.

I have loved the series since Kurt came on.
I'm actually glad they have NOTHING to do (yet.. ya never know) with the IC crap. Great art, cool story and villains that are now the JLA's equal... keep this book off in the corner if it stays this good.
(NOTE I did fin the first issue of the current story dull... but the last couple have been GREAT!)

I don't think it is boring. I am really enjoying the current story with the Crime Syndicate and Qwardians. For the first time in awhile, I look forward to reading JLA each month.

Me too.
Since Morrison left I just haven't enjoyed it (as much)

JLA is great at the moment - and I think its getting stronger with each issue.
I love the shared feel of the DCU storylines but it's still quite cool to have some books that aren't embroiled in them.

You may be on to something.
Is there even an All Star JLA book?

Not yet. The closest thing seems to be Alex Ross' 'Justice'. By the way, I've been trying to figure out if it's going to be set in continuity, or in past conitnuity or just out in left field. Anybody know?

In the same continuity as the Dini\Ross projects.

The book needs a fan-favorite artist...or a new artist that wows readers. Garney's work just isn't suited for a team series.

I'd love to see Perez back on the book. Or if he's busy, we can call Phil Jimenez. ;-)

JLA will get sucked into the whole IC/ Countdown/ Crisis II stuff before long, for better or worse. They've got a surprise on tap after the CSA arc.

I'm actually quite glad that the JLA hasn't really had much to do with everything going on right now. JLA is the book that should be about superheroes doing superheroic things, and should *never* get involved with this new grim 'n' gritty rubbish that seems to be all the rage in the DC Editorial Offices right now. Plus, given the actions of the older JLA members in the past, I think it's a good thing to have the big 7 doing their own thing and unaffected.

Didn't Busiek say he was the ongoing writer?
I didn't even know Slott and Jurgens had any JLA plans...

I didn't even know Slott and Jurgens had any JLA plans...He is, but the CSA storyline isn't technically part of that. It's a holdover from the rotating creative team thing. Last bit I'd heard, there was going to be a short story by Slott and Jurgens between this and the regular run.
Apparently that has changed, though.

So Kurt will be the ongoing writer soon? Very cool. Looking forward to that too.

oh - I hadn't heard that
Actually I would've liked to have seen Slott and Jurgens take on the JLA.
That is, if it's the She Hulk Slott and the Planetary/JLA Jurgens. ;)

It appears that way. More details to follow in the next Wizard.
AFAIK Busiek is still eventually taking over as the regular writer.

I haven't liked JLA since Claremont and Byrne took over. That "Tenth Circle" nightmare was the first time I ever stopped reading a book in the middle of storyarc. This series has definitely lost it's appeal as "the big guns" of the DCU. Many people I know who used to buy it quit because it stopped being the biggest book DC had, they are supposed to be the biggest and the best, yet the art sucks, and they are detached from what is going on in every other book. And isn't the idea of battling the Crime Syndicate impossible? In "earth 2" the possibility of them facing the JLA became a moot point.
I think my biggest problem is that the "tenth circle" storyline was merely a vehicle to launch the new "doom patrol" comic, which itself doesn't make any sense, since no one in the JLA seemed to recognize characters that they had been on a first name basis with ever since "JLA: Year One". On top of that, the 100th issue, which should have been a special JLA event, was merely another vehicle to launch "JLElite", which *sigh* also sucks. Just let me know when the art gets better and I'll think about reading it again.

Always a naysayer in the crowd...as far as Earth 2's little story...THAT'S become a moot point.

#115 begins a five part arc by Geoff Johns, Alan Heinberg, and Chris Batista, dealing with the fallout from Identity Crisis (and featuring the return of the Secret Society of Super Villains).

Oooh.
Where'd you get the info from?
I thought IC was pretty turdtastic but the ramifications are interesting story fodder.
Think I'll jump onboard for this.

Elsewhere on these boards, Busick said that he can't take on the responsiblity of being the regular JLA writer due to his health. He will be writing arcs for the series though. The next arc should have a different/better artist.
