Here's a new pic of Doctor Doom that makes it look like they may have ditched the organic metal idea.

That pic looks great. I REALLY hope Christian can pull off this Doom portrayal. I want to see the best Doom adaptation that can possibly be made.

I can't wait to hear what the voice sounds like. That looks so cool, where did you get that from?

Yes, a trenchcoat is waaaay sillier than medieval garb worn over armor. Without pants, even.

Shouldn't Doom have a deep voice, maybe not James Earl Jones deep, but at least deeper than the actor who's portraying him has?

Maybe the armor makes his voice deeper, ala darth vader. also, actors can change their voices sometimes, perhaps he can pull off the booming voice and that's why marvel went with him.

Now that I think about it, I guess Doom should also have some sort of vaguely European accent as well.

He needs that Patrick Stewart-esque booming shakespearean actor voice.

I always imagine Doom as sounding the same as Destro from GI Joe. But he's been voiced with much higher pitched voices in cartoons.

i always liked how he was voiced in the cartoon series of ff and the hulk,he had a sinister, almost patronising tone to his voice, like he thought he was ten times smarter than anyone around him, probably bacause he was.

He does, actually. In one of the production clips for the movie (before the trailer was released) Doom, pre-accident, has some sort of press conference and the accent is cleary that. That was enough for ME, at the time, to see Tim Story was heading in the right direction. Now, after seeing that mask closeup...freakin' PERFECT.

Excellent pic.

As for Doom's voice? I always imagined Jeremy Irons as Doom's voice.

How about Gary Oldman doing a slight variation of the voice he used in Dracula ?

First off, I would like to thank Alpha To Omega for posting that great picture of Doctor Doom in the other thread. It was that thread that inspired this one. I just thought it might be a good idea to try and combine all the different topics into one thread.

Anyway, does anybody think the film-makers will have the audacity to "kill" Doom at the end of the movie? I have no idea what the storyline for the movie itself, but if it follows the comics and Doom is the leader of a foreign nation, he'll have diplomatic immunity from prosecution, right? This would also be a great device for any sequel.

I don't think that is the plan. He'll probably return like Magneto has in the X-Men movies. Julian McMahon has signed a multi-film deal with the studio but it sounds like it is open-ended. He made a statement at Wondercon that a lot depends on how receptive the movie-going audience is to the character - - the vast majority of which you know will only have a vague knowledge about the character if they have any idea at all.

I'm not happy about a lot of the changes - - the evil business man backstory or the romantic triangle with Reed-Sue-Victor being the main ones - - but I am willing to give the movie a chance because I love he casting of Julian McMahon as Doom and Michael Chiklis as the Thing. I think this may be break out roles for both of them. They already have proven themselves on TV and this will be their shot at the "big show". Both have been pretty enthusiastic about their parts.

I think McMahon also signed an extension on his Nip/Tuck contract as well.

I had my doubts, but this looks much better then earlier previews. Maybe he develops his look throughout the movie until the climax, when he appears in his classic garb.

...And as for him dying at the end: it wouldn't be the first time the Fantastic Four thought Dr Doom was dead. As long as they make his death into one of those "We didn't find his body, but nobody could've survived that" type situations, I have no problem...

Billy Zane was always my pick for Doom.

But, oh, well, I can deal.

FF looks awesome^^
