Pre-Crisis there was a private detective in Gotham City. Can't remember his name but he was a Viet Nam war vet who walked around with a cane. He helped Batman out on a few cases and Commisioner Gordon was his partner for a while when he was kicked off the force.

Did he survive and does he exist Post-Crisis? What has he been up to?

It's Jason Bard, who once was engaged to Barbara Gordon (it's still canon). He exists post-crisis and was in several issues of Birds of Prey. He's still a P.I. in Gotham City, I think.

Yeah, IIRC, I think he was in the first story arc in the ongoing BOP book--a pretty good story, as I recall. I don't think I've seen him since then.

Thanks, I'll have to look up those issues. Always liked that character.

Ah. I only know him from BoP. I liked the character.

Bard appeared solo in a nice 7-page back-up story in Batman #334 by Mike Barr and Dan Spiegle. I'd have liked for that to have become a regular strip.

Wow, I knew nothing about this. Kinda makes me want to check it out as well.
What were the pre-crisis titles that involved Jason Bard?
