The current Hokage vs. the current Kazekage, who would win this battle?

From what I've seen, Tsunade didn't strike me as the fighter type...
She's just too cute for it ^_^

If for no other reason than far, far more experience, Tsunade.

Eh. You've not seen much of her, have you? Her strength is INSANE.
then you didn't see the old school beating she put on oromarchi.
Didn't she get a lot of help from that master that trained Naruto, and mostly rely on her slug thing?

Depends on where the match takes place,
The only way Tsu has a chance against Gaara is if she's fast enough to get past the shield of sand, and strong enough to oneshot/maybe two shot him through the armor of sand.
Otherwise in an actual prolonged fight I would give the edge to Gaara.

If Rock lee could break through the armor, there's no question the current Sakura can't, and in THAT case, I KNOW Tsundae can.

Yeah but I would also think that as Gaara got stronger so did his shield and armor of sand.

With current Gaara, in the desert, Tsunade may never have a chance to get close. He can just float away out of reach and drop entire cubic kilometers of sand on her head. Even Tsunade's strength and Katsuyu won't be able to withstand that. Kakashi implied that Tsunade's abilities are limited mainly to her strength and medical techniques, so it's unlikely that Tsunade knows any ninjutsu or genjutsu powerful enough to defeat Gaara's sand control in the desert.

Just to clarify this is an arena battle, not in the desert...

Oh, right. Gaara still controls all of the sand on the arena floor and can create considerably more sand from the earth beneath it, so he should have the advantage. Tsunade can still win if she strikes fast and hard enough, but it won't be easy if Gaara immediately retreats to the air.

Yeah, this is more than a little one-sided in the arena, and anywhere there's not too much sand, Tsunade should be able to one-shot him with a full power punch to a vital spot.

Tsunade throws a punch. It goes through the shield of sand, through the armor of sand, and knocks Gaara's head off.

No. No she doesn't, in the arena she is so horribly outmatched it isn't even funny.
Even outside the arena he can fly what is she going to do to him? Throw stuff at him, Garra's just too much for her.

That said. Gaara wins 8-9/10. The other times Tsunade probably does something clever with Katsuya.

Yes...........for years I was watching posts on this site in rumbles in the text archives and I looked at all the matches that intrested me. Hundereds of pages and I always said one day I will post on some of these matches, most I have forgotten about but some like this one I remember, plus it is better that starting the same thread over.

Glad to see somebody who thinks Gaara will win.

What if she throws a rock at Gaara, given her strength....I can see it moving or passing the speed of sound.
Just my thoughts anyway

Garaa's sand was powerful enough to block Deidara's Village destroying bomb, if she tries to kill him with a rock it's not going to happen. The only thing she has that will work is her slugs acid but with Garaa in the air that to isn't going to cut it. He burys her in a tsunami of sand.

Jiraiya was drugged for most of the fight and could barely use his toad jutsus.

Jiraiya was drugged for most of the fight and could barely use his toad jutsus. Not to mention that for a good chunk of that fight Tsunade was still suffering from her PTSD fear of blood. Once she got over that, she one-punched Orochimaru. Of course, Orochimaru at that time couldn't use his arms and thus most of his jutsu either, but that just means that they were all about equally weakened for that three-way battle. Did Shizune ever do anything in that fight? I know that Naruto and Kabuto were both big help for their masters, but I can't really remember Shizune doing much other than maybe skirmishing with Kabuto a bit.

Yeah, but she was the only one fine in the begining and whose handicap left toward the end of the fight. Oro couldn't use his arms and Jiraiya was drugged form start to finish. They were more handicapped.
Who do you guys think will win?

Yep. She tried to hit Kabuto with toxic darts and poison breath.
Then she got her achilles tendons cut quickly by him, blindsided with that 'burst out of the earth' move.

If she gets even one punch Tsunade wins no doubt about it. However if Garaa can keep his distance then he can pull a win, but it will be a rather long fight.

They start off a good distance from each other and they're on sand. He can just have it grabb on to he ankles and have enough time to crush at least one of them.
Let's see her try to heal that.

Well she does have that technique were she uses all the chakra she has stored up to heal herself constantly.
About Garaa's sand, it is not that fast. Naruto was able to dodge Garaa's sand, get behind him, and put an explosive note on him, and that was when Garaa was using Shukaku (granted Naruto was using some pretty impressive clone maneuvers). He was almost fully transformed minus the whole becoming giant thing of course.
Plus Tsunade could keep up with Kabuto, who was able to easily fend off Naruto while only being able to use 80% of his body until Naruto managed to get close enough to him to nail him with a rasengan. Hell, Kabuto is the guy that has been flat out stated multiple times to be on Kakashi's level.

Garaa's control of sand has gotten alot more powerful form the chunin exams to the rescue Sasuke arc and even more powerful post timeskip and after he became Kazekage, guy can bury a village in sand. Are you saying Tsunade can win?

Yeah, she can win. Garaa depends on the sand around him. In the desert he is awesome. He has nowhere near as much sand here. Plus, his sand hasn't shown to be any faster than it was before timeskip. He can win, but so can Tsunade. I'd say 50/50.

He was almost fully transformed minus the whole becoming giant thing of course. At the same time it was fast enough to react to Lee's speed for a short while, and Tsunade is far from that fast. Also when Gaara was in shukaku mode the sand stuck to him forming the beast form of him and thus couldn't act as a proper shield, at least not in the same fashion.
Finally, that was years ago. Now the sand is faster and stronger than before. Not to mention that Gaara is able to create enough sand to cover a large part of a forrest, while making it strong enough to block a city-busting attack.

They start off 100 feet away and Garaa can fly and Tsunade...... can't and on top of that all she has is short range moves if she takes the time to summon Garaa will already be high in the air, plus he can easily make more sand and turn the land into a desert before the timeskip, after it Kazekage Garaa stomps in or out of the arena.
You are saying 50/50 in or out of the arena.

He needs to completely cover someone in sand to do that. Tsunade isn't going to stand around and let him.
At the same time it was fast enough to react to Lee's speed for a short while, and Tsunade is far from that fast. Also when Gaara was in shukaku mode the sand stuck to him forming the beast form of him and thus couldn't act as a proper shield, at least not in the same fashion.
Garaa's sand could only react to Lee's speed when it was the automatic shield of sand. The one he uses to attack is nowhere near as fast. His attacks have wide range, but Lee was still able to dodge. He was only able to tag Lee after the guy had used his forbidden technique and was pretty damn tired.
Finally, that was years ago. Now the sand is faster and stronger than before. Not to mention that Gaara is able to create enough sand to cover a large part of a forrest, while making it strong enough to block a city-busting attack.
When has Garaa's sand been shown to be faster than it was pre-timespik? The blocking was done in the desert when he has large amount of sand at his disposal. He can also make sand out of the ground, but that is not instantaneous.
What does any of that have to do when fighting against Gaara?
That Tsunade is fast enough to dodge Garaa's sand attacks.
You are saying 50/50 in or out of the arena.
In the arena. In the desert she would lose.
