So, as far as the X-books are concerned, what're your guilty pleasures? You know those things that are so weird, so rediciculous, but dang it, somehow, you wind up loving the thing anyway, regardless of what the critics or other people say, You know it's cheesy, you know it's over the top, and you don't care.

Weird rediciculous things I like that happen in the X-men I like?
I can't think of a thing.
Unless you count ressurections, Alternate futures and Wolverine getting his arse handed to him. Or are they too big?

Sometimes reading them at all are guilty pleasures, but...
1. Anytime an X-team plays a sport. It's always painfully enjoyable.
2. A big "event" crossover between the X-books, like X-cutioners Song or X-tinction agenda (bonus cheese for working an 'X' in there somewhere). They're such a mishmash that rarely makes too much sense, I love it.
3. Dumb catch phrases - sadly, not seen much these days.
e.g. "Bub", "Sugah", "Ungablich", "Gott in Himmel", "Lenin's Ghost", "Spaceeba" (any Russian/German words Claremont looked up), "mister", "Godess", "fuzzy-elf", "canuckle-head", oh, I could go on...

Couldn't agree more.
Also I like some of the really bad costumes.
Wolverine and Kitty's original costumes come to mind.

For me, the silly random thing would go to hands down how only like 6 or 7 years has passed since The New Mutants were formed. I mean, really.
Think about the sheer volume of shit that has happened since.
Jean's ressurrection and death, etc. If only like 4 years has passed since GenX and the Summer's didn't get married too far before that, ya know, that was a short, shitty marriage.

One frame comes to mind from the first arc of "Ultimate X-Men"...
"The scenery, bub - the scenery."
I enjoy UXM, but at that frame, I was taken completely out of the story and started laughing hysterically. Then again, alot of UXM moments do that to me...like the entire Manga issue.

Oh, it's not just the females.
A lack of clothing on the men is always fun in the X-Books, and is definitely my not so guilty pleasure. It is indeed most prominent on Logan, who's outfits seem to rip to shreds if someone so much as sneezes. But hairy chests are a good thing.
But not as good as a pre-kitty Hank running around in nothing but his underwear. I swear, how lucky can you be? You get to run around everywhere in your underwear, and everyone just nods and says, "Good morning, Hank. What are the results of your research?" I wish I could get away with that. But while I might not be good to look at, Hank sure is. Mrowl!!!
But even if an X-male in question is in full uniform, it's still okay 'cause the thing is usually so skintight that a little imagination gets the rest of the job done.
Ah, feel the perviness.

i love whenever emma frost says something ironic or sarcastic like:

emma: "breeding darling, top class breeding"
"i'm a patient woman, but sometimes i wish all children had a single neck and i was knotting a rope around it!"
jean: "his entire being is disintegrating into confetti."
emma: "i felt like that every day during my "lost years"."
"anyone still wishing to complain to mr. logan about injuries sustained during yesterdays' field expedition will, I'm afraid, be completely wasting his or her time."
About Kitty: "our own poster child, isnt it sweet? "the non threatening shadowcat, or sprite, or ariel, or whatever incredibly unimpressive name you're using nowadays "

In retrospect, I must say I really liked Milligan's run. I mean, I already was one of the handful of people who praised him in (some of) his review threads, but I've been doing some occasional re-reads (like I always do) and I really, really like his final issue. It makes me want to see him do more, actually (though not on Carey's title--dear goodness no I'm not going that far ;)). I kinda wish he got to deal with Polaris more than with her just getting shipped off to Uncanny and back into Havok's arms so quickly after her speech of independence.
