There are numerous question asked frequently in this forum, so slowly but surely I'll be adding to this FAQ list when I have time. If there's anyone out there who'd like to contribute to it, please feel free to send me a PM or E-Mail me.

1. I no longer like the user handle I chose and would like to change it, but I don't want to start from scratch and loose my post count. Can it be changed?

Yes, we'll change it for you, but with some restrictions. First, send your request via PM or E-Mail to either Jonah Weiland or Matt. These are the administrators of these forums and are the only ones who have the ability to make the change.

As for the change itself, we will only change your handle for you if it's from a handle to a real name or at least something that resembles a real name. Why? Because we like seeing real names on our forums. Handles are fun for a time, but sometime's it just hard to respond to someone or take someone seriously who has a handle like "Comic Boy Man From Mars." We encourage the use of real names.

2. What are the size limitations on avatars?

Avatars can be up to 80 pixels wide by 80 pixels high with a maximum file size of 20k. You can use either JPG or GIF format, and animations are okay. No, we will no increase either the physical size of the image or the file size. This is plenty for an avatar.

3. How do I make an avatar?

Take your favorite image creation program like Photoshop, open your file in the program and crop and resize the image so that it fits within our dimensions. There are a number of free image generation programs out there. Try Google.com to find some of them.

4. How do I install my new avatar?

Click on "User CP" in the top menu. From there click "Edit Avatar" in the left hand menu. Follow the instructions.

5. Can we have a sports forum? - 10/22/04

Sorry, but there are no plans to add a sports forum here and we likely won't add one. All sports discussion can take place on the CBR Community Forum.

What sort of questions is the Q&A Board for?
The CBR Q&A Forum is intended for questions relating to use of the CBR Forums and their many features. It is also present to be used to ask suitable questions to the administrators and technical support staff.
Threads asking about where to find certain comics, stores, etc are much better suited to other boards.

How do I use a .CBR File?
The .cbr format of file is generally used in the illegal distribution of copyrighted material (usually scanned comic books) and is not supported by CBR in any way. Requests for this sort of information will be deleted and the user may be banned if requests continue.

Can you delete my Forums account?
Unless there's an extremely good reason we will not be deleting anyone's account on request. If you no longer wish to visit these forums, that's fine but there's no need for your account to be deleted - afterall, you may just come back next week.

I have a major problem with a Moderator, what can I do?
If you have a major disagreement with any Moderator and feel that his or her actions are unjust then feel free to raise the matter with one of the Super Moderators or Administrators. However, please do not contact Jonah since he's a rather busy fellow.

How do I become a Moderator?
Moderators are chosen extremely carefully. They must have patience, be knowledgebale in the respective field and generally have a mature outlook on life. Do not send in requests to become a Moderator, they won't help you at all. When a new Moderator is needed, a list of candidates is drawn up by the existing Moderators and the field narrowed down until one is left - that person is then asked.

The following are general guidelines and points of interest in regard to behaviour here at the Comic Book Resources Forums. It should be noted that these are only general guidelines and not specific rules and regulations. In other words, Moderator discretion is always in effect and Moderators are not present to enforce rules but instead to keep their respective forums running smoothly in whatever manner they see fit. Each Moderator has their own style in regard to running their board; some will be more relaxed than others. Similarly, different Moderators will have various degrees of what they’re prepared to put up with in regard to what is posted on their boards as well as what actions they take to keep their boards running smoothly.
In all cases, a Moderator’s word is final and their decisions should be heeded.

* Users of the forums should, at all times, be civil to each other. Personal insults are not welcome or tolerated.
* Threats to other users will most likely result in an automatic ban.
* Impersonating other users or comic book professionals with malicious intent is strictly unacceptable.
* Possessing multiple CBR Forums accounts is heavily frowned upon. Multiple accounts may be banned or merged without warning.
* Any user found to be attempting to circumvent an existing ban will be automatically re-banned from the forums.
* Spam messages, be it in a post or private message, are not allowed. This includes links to EBay auctions.
* Please be aware of copyright laws. The unlawful reproduction/posting of copyrighted materials is unacceptable. As a general guideline, no more than 3 pages of any one comic should be posted.

If unacceptable behaviour is encountered then appropriate actions will be taken by the Moderators. These actions include, but are not limited to, temporary and/or permanent banning from the forums. Again, a Moderator’s word is final and their decisions should be heeded.

I am currently in the process of drafting a new version of this Users Guideline text.

If you have any matters you wish to have cleared up or explained in the new version, please put it in a reply to this thread.

Cheers!
