I know it has been touched on in other threads, but who is that mysterious lady who busted Courtney out of the booby hatch? Should I recognise her at all?

I was confused by that one, too. I don't have the issue in front of me right now, but didn't she have red hair? Hawkgirl seems to be the "obvious" choice, but doesn't feel right to me. From the style of her hair, I was reminded of Nemesis, but what Nemesis was doing in a mental institution in 1951, I have no idea. Any better guesses out there?

I thought it was a future version of Courtney herself...who else would know to se her free? And didn't she say something along the lines of; "Don't mess up like I did?"

That's me thought as well. She knew too much about Courtney and her advise seemed to about the future.

Good guesses both. Didn't think of that.

Bah, time travel. :p

I think having her be a future version of Court would be kinda... lame. Too predictable. I'd rather have her be Courtney's sister or something if she has to be from the future.

Back in the first issue of this story before Courtney's family was killed, Degaton ordered his soldiers to go kill the family, especially the siblings, because how important they were to the future JSA. I'm not sure what that means for the step-brother (maybe he's Rip Hunter), but I think the mysterious woman is Courtney's baby sister Patricia. (Remember, Courtney and Rip got out before time had finished altering itself.)

I'm not sure what this has to do with anything, but we know that the mystery woman a) has long brown hair and b) wears a big chunky bracelet. Anyone able to make these fit a theory?

I think that it's a future Courtney, I keep remembering that issue way back when (in 2000 or so) that was narrated by Courtney from the future.

What if it's her daughter instead of her sister. Maybe she could be Courtney and Albert's child? They've shown where Atom Smasher is questioning his actions. Maybe he and Courtney get together down the road.

I sure hope not.... I experience enough pedophilia, especially after finishing Card Captor Sakura... :(
Even if Atom and Courtney get together years later, it'll still disturb me. >_<

now Captain Marvel, that's much better IMO. ;)

I agree with the people saying it's Courtney's sister. Wouldn't it be cool if she carried on one of the three legacies their family has (Star-Spangled Kid, Starman and Stripsey/S.T.R.I.P.E.).

I'm just wondering if Johns will even show us at the end. He could leave this mystery for a future story (although, geez, how many time travel stories will this book have?)

Much to my lament as both a Stargirl fan and hate Geoff Johns's writing, Patricia does (http://profnano.org/hackers/db/stargirl-blip.jpg) carry on the legacy. That's from Starman #50.

I'm hoping the theory that it's future!Courtney are true, because having two Courtneys around would be fun. :)

I had forgotten that reference in Starman. Nice catch.

But...

I'm sure Johns could work around that. Time travel has a way of screwing 30th century history up and now that Starboy is a black guy, who knows if this Starboy's statements even apply to this time period? Or they could always use the Star Trekian "records from that time period are fragmentary and incomplete." In any event, I don't think Patricia taking over the mantle is fait accompli.

Artemis could be the woman, Rip brought back a lot of legacy people to work the gospel. Why not a slightly out-time or context "Wonder Woman"?

Just based on appearance, the character looks like Jessie Quick. Although, I don't know how she would be back in 1951.

I thought the same thing. But I still don't think it's her.

I guess Rip Hunter could have taken her back for some behind the scenes help, and to also contact Jay, speedster to speedster.

I'm with everyone who thinks it's Courtney's sister. Seems the most likely too and I actually hope that's the way it is because the foundation has been laid down for that solution to mystery. If not her, then there better be hints for readers to be able to solve it. I guess I'm just tired of mystery answers out of the blue. A surprise is one thing, but a surprise answer to a mystery is not always good.
