I work with the youth praise band at my church, and I have to tell you what happened tonight (Friday).
Some time ago, we had been asked to play at the Fort Jackson Coffee House on tonight's date. This is a ministry that some of our church members are involved with. We originally said 'no,' because our two lead singers were not going to be there.
Apparently, word did not reach the ministry coordinator about this, and they planned on us coming. Our keyboardist, Corey Potter, happened to get in touch with him. After that, he called the other members of the band (minus the two lead vocalists), and everyone agreed that we should do it.
So on Thursday, seven youth WILLINGLY met after school and practiced until 5:00, took a dinner break, came back at 5:30 (with me in attendance this time) and practiced until 9:00...and then stayed and practiced LONGER after I left!! Over FOUR AND A HALF HOURS of practice!!!
When we got there, the man that was supposed to deliver the testimony did not make it in time, and I was asked to do it. Spur of the moment. I just happened to have my Bible and was able to recall a testimony I did a few months ago, so I did that. It was, to me, a reminder that you never know when you will be called to minister.
With God's help, the youth pulled it off beautifully, and it was such a blessing that I had to share with you.
