Does anyone else think this show was the most consistently funny show ever made? I've most likely seen a good 20 + episodes and every single one had me, literally, laughing out loud.

Now that all the episodes are out on DVD it's killing me that I don't have them. But soon I shall. So anyone else a fan?

Yeah, one of my all-time favorite shows.

I even made my own versions of the 'bots when I was in high school.

And just so we're clear: Mike was a better host and the Sci Fi years were funnier than the Comedy Central years.

Yeah, Joel was the first one I saw, but Mike did grow on me. I actually have two of the episodes on video. One is the classic Joe Don Baker epic "Mitchell" where they actually make the transition from Joel to Mike.

Space Mutiny was funny (espically the joke they make over the end credits about the music) but Puma Man has to be the greatest episode ever.

Blasphemy! On his best day, back in his day, Mike couldn't hope to touch the genius that was Joel. I miss this show, the original show, with the original talent.

My favorite eps were the Russo-Finnish movies. Those films had some lovely cinematography, but goofy-ass plotlines and hammy acting.

"The Day the Earth Froze"("Are you friends of the bride or the failure?")
"Jack Frost"("Every culture has its great myth in which the hero chases a pig-sled.")
"The Magic Voyage of Sinbad"("Is it just me or does Persia look suspiciously like Finland?")
"The Sword and the Dragon"("Now that's what I call a horde!")

I haven't seen that many of the Comedy Central episodes(didn't get that channel back in the day) but of the Scifi Channel seasons I'd say season 8. It had the best host segments, and the best selection of movies, IMO. In season 9 & 10 the host segments in particular started getting a bit tired, though there were still some good bits, of course. Season 8 has several of my favorite episodes: Space Mutiny, Overdrawn at the Memory Bank, The Undead, Mole People, TISCWSLABMUZ...

I like Joel and Mike.

We didn't get Comedy Central in Oklahoma, so I never watched MST3K until the Sci-Fi era, when we moved to Houston. I found it channel surfing loved it right away. In college, a friend of mine had every episode on DVD or VCD (downloaded), and Thursdays were MST3K night. Lots of fun. I recall one guy, about three quarters of the way through Red Zone Cuba (My personal vote for worst film they ever did; Manos, while inept, at least had a followable plot), standing up, turning to another, and saying, "Neil. Let's fight." Such was his inability to cope with the horrors of Coleman Francis.

My favorites (no order)

Space Mutiny

That show was brilliant... definitely gets a spot somewhere in my top three or four TV shows of all time.

It forever changed the way I watch bad movies and movies in general. Am I the only one who constantly finds myself having "MST3K moments" during television and movies? Where you just can't stop inserting dialogue, puns and other jokes into material too cheesy to be enjoyed on its own?

I'm serious when I say that show spawned an entirely new style of humor. "Play by play satire" if you will.

Let's not forget "Overdrawn At The Memory Bank."

Since Raul Julia had passed away not too long ago at the time the ep was made , Mike and co. decided to go easy on him but man they just ripped on everything else twice as hard.

And it didn't help that his character was named Aram Fingal.

MIKE: Yeah, "Aram Fingal" from San Juan, Puerto Rico.

"Parts: The Clonus Horror," "Giant Spider Invasion" (PACKERS!) and "The Incredibly Strange Creatures That Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies" were three more stand-outs from the Sci-Fi seasons. Yeah, Sci-Fi stipulated that they could only riff movies or shorts that were somehow SF related, which didn't hurt the movies so much, but really brutalized their ability to use shorts. I don't know how they managed to fit in the Coily short in the last season.

They managed to feature "The Girl in Gold Boots" too, so I expect the Scifi Channel either loosened up or stopped caring about what the show was doing(likely the latter).

Excuse me, but "parts: the clonus horror" is not capitalized. "Apparently ee cummings wrote the screenplay." Remember?

As for shorts, I love the one about Coily the Spring Sprite, who waited all of eternity so he could make it so springs never existed, then relented and changed everything back within five minutes. Followed, of course, by Mikey, the Mike Sprite and Mike's Socks-ey, the Mike's Socks Sprite. I'll let you figure out their powers.

A great show one of the best of all time. I wish that someone would bring it back. Since Rhino owns the dvd rights to the series and they are owned by Warner Bros, it'd really be nice if they made direct to dvd episodes are at least have Mike, Kevin(Tom Servo)Murphy, and Bill(Crow)Cobbet(sp) do commentaries on certain movie, I mean who wouldn't like to see the guys take on movies like Catwoman,Ghost Ship, or Batman & Robin.

You and I have far too much in common. I too was a member of the Fan Club, and I had an insanely low number on the membership card they sent me. Wish I still had it. I still have my t-shirt though. Do you remember when they did The Amazing Colossal Man and when the title came up on the screen Crow says "oh, you wish." I actually snorted Sprite out my nose. The first time I ever watched it was on a Saturday morning after one of the last Friday night drunks I ever had, so it took me about 25 minutes to figure out if it was the T.V. or if it was me.

I watched one of the weirdly split versions of Amazing Colossal Beast. It shown late at night on a cable channel. "Oh my God, we smell like bread!" had me laughing harder than I could breathe. My wife came to the living room concerned about my health. She then cursed me for not taping the show for her. I've never seen that episode rerun since.

During the Comedy Central era, they actually did riff on a few old episodes of General Hospital.

My personal fav would probably have to be Santa Claus (The Mexican one). I do agree that the shorts are some of the best material they've ever done: Some of my favorites are "Here Comes the Circus", "Johnny at the Fair" and "Why Study Industrial Arts" ("Because you're bad at math?")

At a Christmas party: a movie was playing that had a killer croc/alligator in it. At one point it has climbed aboard (and trapped itself) on a helicopter, with its head sticking out one side and the tail the other.

Okay, here's a question... What's the best movie to shown on MST3K? As in cinematic quality, not cheesy amusement factor. I'd say The Touch of Satan. Now, I'm not saying it's a good movie, but it had more going for it than most of the bunch. When I first saw the episode I was actually interested in seeing how it was going to end. That's Gamera. He is one of the world's greatest kaiju. His old movies(The Showa series) were OK, but look for the new trilogy, 1995-1999. The movies were "Gamera: Guardian of the Universe", "Gamera 2: The Advent of Legion", and "Gamera 3: The Revenge of Iris". It is now considered as one of Japan's best trilogies in history. Joel and the gang would have a much harder time making fun of those three.

According to Satellite News (http://www.mst3kinfo.com/), "...don't expect a full-blown riffing of the episode...Mike and the bots only appear for a few short segments. But it's the first new MST3K material since 1999, so get those recording devices ready!

I hate "Cheap Seats". It's a pale imitation and not that funny. I would have tuned in had I known Mike and the 'Bots would be guesting. I missed it!

It was ok. They were only on for two or three minutes. "Cheap Seats" isn't as funny as MST3K, but it does have its moments.

Yeah, one of my all-time favorite shows.

I even made my own versions of the 'bots when I was in high school.

And just so we're clear: Mike was a better host and the Sci Fi years were funnier than the Comedy Central years.

So far I've seen mainly episodes from seasons 4 and 5. Manos was hilarious, and Attack of the Eye Creatures had some horrific day/night shooting that was perfect fodder for the bots.

You see "The Killer Shrews" yet? That one's fun, both because of the obvious fact that the "shrews" are medium-sized dogs in fright wigs, and the copious drinking by every member of the cast.

What I wouldn't give to see a good John Agar film right now.

Well, a film. I don't know if he ever made a good one. I think The Mole People came closest.

Yes, that's right, I came in with the Sci Fi seasons. That was the first year I had cable. Sweet, sweet cable.

Wait, the movie cast or the SoL crew? Even better!

The movie cast. The crew makes numerous jokes about it.

And Santa Claus Conquers The Martians is a must-see.

What are the references to MST3K in Kill Bill? Supposedly Tarantino discovered the Hands of Manos through the show and dropped a few references.

Although I haven't see all of the shows listed, The Gargantean Beast (Sequel to Gargantean Man) gave me enough laughing fits to have trouble breathing.....

I think you mean War of the Colossal Beast and The Amazing Colossal Man. Both good eps.

During TACM, there's a scene where Col. Manning, the titular Amazing Colossal Man, tries to read a Bible, but can't. I came up with what I think is my personal best self-MSTing line: "The irony is, it's a Large Print Edition."

John Agar was in some good films (some John Ford Westerns, f'r instance) but never starred in a good one.

MST has forever screwed up Shakespeare for me. Every time I watch a Shakespeare movie and someone talks the audience I always hear the MSTie line "And what do you, the audience at home, think?"

That and seeing this thread is making me hungry for Warrior of the Lost World.

The movie as excellent. One of the few where I laughed so damn hard....the whole time!

I loved the show. I remember it so vividly. One of the best parts about growing up in the 90's. I couldn't really say which was funnier, Sci Fi or CC...too many great movies. I will say that one of my favs was from the Sci Fi years. It was some action/sci fi movie from Canada, one of the last ones to air. Funny as fucking hell!

Anyone know the name by chance?

Sounds like Space Mutiny. It was season 8, but they might've rerun it near the series' end. I tend to think it's the funniest episode.
