Deathstroke from 1 to 8 was better than Suicide Squad, who was still a good book.
Right now, SS is superior in pretty much every level, both story, character, artworks and building plots.

I absolutely hate SS with all my heart, but even I have to say that book is superior to Deathstroke.

Under Higgins, Deathstroke won, but I enjoyed both. Now, Suicide Squad.

Suiside Squad is an amazing book and one of the view books that seems to add readers month to month. Highly recommended.

Definitely this. Deathstroke 1-8 were pretty great, but I couldn't even finish Deathstroke 10. It was awful. Within the first half of the book, Slade had no less than 5 different weapons. He had a two handed laser gun, pistols, dual swords, a different sword and a knife. And he apperently just tossed them each away in between panels.

Suicide Squad by a country mile. It isn't the great Ostrander series, but it is in the upper half of DCnU series as far as writing goes, and the art is okay.

Deathstroke right now is a series with both writing and art that exemplifies everything that was wrong with comic books from the 90's.

When Deathstroke was being written by Higgins it was action packed, exciting and entertaining. At the time it was tied with Suicide Squad on those points.

Now Suicide Squad is the superior book, I think there's no need to explain why.

I quite Suicide Squad pretty quickly but actually got back into reading it with the artist change. It's not perfect ... Harley's costume is still freaky ... the changes to her origin and her "voice" aren't exactly my favorite things. The overall tone is weird. Amanda Waller is too skinny. But something about the concept just works. Sure, I'd rather it be written by Gail Simone or John Ostrander, but hey, there's a chance it might be after the first few stories are out of the way. Meanwhile I kind of dig Basilisk as an ersatz Kobra, and I even like the Black Spider's new costume and King Shark's new design. So for a book that suffers so many of the modern day cliches and tropes that I can't stand, something about it is still charming.

Deathstroke lacks charm in a huge way. Props for reintroducing Zealot and the Omega Men, though. Whatever Liefeld is doing will be rote and ugly, but he's never been afraid to bring in characters fast and not leave fans hanging on whether they exist or not. Since he took over his titles, Deathblow, Zealot, the Omega Men, Lobo and freaking Shayera Hol have all been brought back. I actually approve of the speedy application of characters.

I also totally somehow expect a crossover. I mean the Daemonite subplot has been going strong in a bunch of books ... now that Zealot is around there's the Kherubim, there's Superman, but more importantly there's Liefeld writing a Thanagarian, a Kherubim, Lobo, Omega Men from the Vega System and Grifter, the guy with the Daemonite ties. Somehow Liefeld actually got a near-monopoly on the "Integrate Wildstorm aliens into the DCU cosmic landscape" element.

I think they're both terrible books. Suicide Squad is way too violent for me and feels like it operates for little more than shock value, and Deathstroke was too violent but fairly good in the past, while now it's less violent but significantly stupider with a big art downgrade. I'd say Deathstroke right now is a little more fun to me, but it's such a bad book that I can't in good faith recommend it or vote for either book here.

If you are getting Swamp Thing then I would recommend Animal Man for sure over either of these books. There are tons of New 52 books or better comics from any company than these two.

When is the Suicide Squad trade coming out?

It's scheduled for for July. (At last, I'm assuming that's a tpb and not a hard cover collection.)

Suicide squad is certainly entertaining in a shock value sense but it really does lack the tight plot that early deathstroke had. It all just depends on what you can stand more of. Dumb action book or odd stuff happens in a violent way.

I look forward to Suicide Squad every month, but I can barely even get through a Deathstroke preview.

I like Suicide Squad much much better simply because its full of bad guys but I'm never quite sure who to root for. With Deathstroke, there's just him and even when he's not doing particularly bad things I still can't seem to root for him. But Deadshot is great. Love Waller and her duplicity with it seems the whole world.

Is Suicide Squad worth checking out? For the record, I have zero problem with the Arkham games Harley Quinn.

If you like villains books with fun dialogue and exciting stories you should give it a try.

Besides, Adam Glass seems to have a good handle on Harley.

Currently 34 - 2 . . . man, is there any DCnU New 52 book Deathstroke would beat?

(Other than books already cancelled or another Liefeld title.)

A vitrually immortal assassin with the strength of ten-men, over 90% brain capacity, preternatuaral reflexes, and money to burn like Bruce Willis in the movie "The Jackal." How does this premise present something difficult? Movies like the Bourne series, James Bond series, Golgo 13, and the the assortment of spy/assassin/mercenaries movies shows there is a market for characters like this. The guy's a bad a$$, how do you mess that up? I mean some of the guys they get on these movies (Ghost Rider, Daredevil, The Punisher) is indicative of the lack of imagination when writing these characters. Let's be real. Rob Liefeld is killing Deathstroke better than any villain they could create. Unless a change happens we're going to have to wait until his next incarnation. I was hoping they would build off the first 8 issues. What they've done is wipe themselves with everything established. The series unless it changes writers won't make it past 30. The new Talon series they've got looks ridiculous. Most likely the most hard-core story we've seen since St.Dumas/ Azreal in the original universe and look at the costume they've given this tool. Look at the Original Azreal costume and even the last one compared to this guy. Take these clowns off of the assassin/spy/mercenary titles and put guys there who want to tell a story about a warrior lost int he haze or someone out for blood. Fighting Lobo is beneath Slade.

Suicide Squad by a country mile.
Deadshot is still his death-wishing, double-crossing self
El Diablo is a badass with demons
King Shark ATE Yo-Yo but didn't digest him.
Yo-Yo actually escaped King Shark's stomach and into the sewers.
Lime and Light went out with 2 separate bangs.
Harley showing the brains behind the crazy.
Black Spider acting like the replacement for Bronze Tiger with his ninja moves.

i really disliked the first issue of Suicide Squad but i kept reading and now it's one of my favorite books. i didnt like what Higgins was doing with Deathstroke and now Leifeld has just made it a comedic book waiting to be cancelled.
