The thing that gets me about the Animal Man shorts is that they're making fun of the way Animal Man is both a superhero and an animal rights activist, having him go out of his way to rescue cows and bugs and stuff. The concept is pretty funny if you think about it, combining standing up for animals with the over-the-top nature of super-heroes. I mean, do animals really need their own superhero rather than just well-intentioned normal people? What I'm surprised at though, is that the fans don't seem to have a problem with it being lampooned. You'd think, since it was a Morrison concept, a lot of hardcore fans would be pissed about it.

Me, I'm okay with it. I'm okay with most super-heroes getting made fun of.

I am a huge fan of Morrison and his Animal Man run which is why I love the look of this cartoon. I know Morrison fans can be a little over Zealous (if I could apologize for a group of people I would) but I think that as a Morrison fan one would be excepting of the malleability of these characters as narrative devices. The Animal Man of Morrison and Lemire are represented in this version because like you stated he still represents the animal rights elements of the character as well as power set. The Animal Man logo reminds me of Flex Mentallo's Hero Halo and the interplay between diegetic and non-diegetic sources that are such a common occurrence in Morrison's work. I just hope that his family is involved and I (being a very messed up person) hope that Lemire's current work will somehow get a reference. If Professor Pyg can be in Batman Brave and the Bold I think that the Hunters Three can be in this new Animal Man.
