Numbers are depressing indeed. I'm just happy that most of the books I'm reading seem to have found their level or are about to. Plus Daredevil actually picked up readers.

Wow what happened to Secret Avengers, half the readers just left one month to the next.

It comes the confirmation that AVX failed to increase sales of other series.

Someone in another thread said there was a shipping error and Diamond didn't send any copies to stores on the West Coast. And seeing as how Diamond compiles the sales chart based on what's shipped and invoiced, if something isn't shipped it doesn't get reported on.
When those copies are sent, we could very well see this issue of Secret Avengers rank around #90 or so in April's charts as well.

I'm surprised by the very healthy re-orders of (mainly) Justice League and Batman in the lower reaches of the 300. DC keeping those titles available is obviously working for them.

I'm normally not inclined to argue with numbers, but how are the figures for AvX #1 going to be finalized? It's official release date was 4/4 and not 3/28. I know it was released early to some shops, but could that be a factor in determining the April sales? It just seems like one of those odd abnormalities where release dates are somewhat fudged because of Marvel's big promotion for AvX.

Those numbers don't include digital copies sold, correct? Maybe the numbers aren't quite so depressing then.

True. I could see a lot of readers waiting for the second month discount on most book. Of course, we readers have no way of knowing since nobody even gives out estimates.

"Rules the charts" is a good bit of hyperbole from CBR.. While it's true it's at the top of the charts those numbers can't be anything but depressing for the two biggest franchises in comics.

It's really too early to make that call. The big push started at the end of March. Most of the tie-ins happen starting in April.

I'm not sure you know what "confirmation" means.
I didn't think Superheroes themed books were that popular compared to alternative-type comics. Lot more than I thought.

It sucks that The Punisher by Greg Rucka isn't selling that well. That book consistently gets good reviews and is often described as one of the best books coming out of Marvel(along with Daredevil and Wolverine and The X-men). Maybe people just don't like the character or maybe it is because it isn't geared towards children. I don't know but people should definitely start reading that series.

Marvel talked about AvX for many months, but despite this, x-men and avengers did not gain new readers. Indeed, sales are down. This means that promotional campaign Marvel was bankrupt. Image Comics up to 6,66%

Readers do not like the new series of The Punisher, Daredevil and many titles of mutants. Marvel needs to understand that this not way good.

That's because the X-Men and Avengers books don't beging tying into AVX until this month.
