No sharing of games! No more Gamefly! No more Gamestop! No more game retailers in general! I wonder what happens when your system breaks down. Do you lose the rights to all of your software or is there a registration under a player ID that will reinstate software licenses on a replacement console? Surely they can't make you repurchase software. There will be the day when ALL software is ONLY downloadable, is this it? I'm feeling nostalgic from having to blow on my old Nintendo 8-bit cartridge.

This is so ridiculous and infuriating. Ugh, it would mean the end of just sharing games.

And what if you have more than one console? Maybe you're right, CenturianSpy about them having to register the game to a user id. Wonder if they will be smart enough to do that.

I heard through the grapevine that the next generation of consoles will not only NOT be backwards compatible, but also you won't be able to play used games on them.

Anyone else hear anything about this? Seems Gamestop would be going quick out of business if this were to happen. Kinda a slap in the face to Gamestop considering how much business they provide for the companies making these next gen consoles.

Those rumors are

1) Old.

2) Not true, mostly because the next gen isn't in the works.

That's the link I saw that mentioned it dated March 28th. First I've heard of it is all.

Eh. Maybe dig around for more information when you hear rumors before starting a thread about it.

Without attaching any merit to it overly,

I heard that for both Microsoft and Nintendo new gen consoles would basically be running already, whereas Sony would be choosing to keep everything completely under wraps?

And that the new Nintendo would be weirdly powerful as compared to their Wii?

When looking at the games getting still sold today I'd guess it likely new consoles wouldn't launch for at least another full year? But then I'd be no expert.

I heard that a newb got tricked by an April Fool's joke and re-posted it thinking it was real.

Seems April Fools Day is here again.

Makes sense.

Then again, to me (and I'll be no newb at much anymore sadly) "April Fool's jokes" hardly ever seem to make much sense without seeming very forced and hardly believable or even funny.

Because who needs fools in April when there'd be fools by but busloads all year 'round and everywhere already?

Xbox is for children, Sony is for those do not play video games, so buy Nintendo.
