Strange as this may sound, Motley Crue. You could always count on having a good time at a Crue show back in their heyday, so I guess I'm going to relive part of my misspent youth. (Plus the tickets were free)

So far, no bands that I'm really excited to see are coming to Ottawa that I'm aware of. Well, I would like to see Xiu Xiu, but they're coming in June and I'll be back home working somewhere then. Third time they'll tour here and I'll miss them. They must really like Ottawa.

The next time Bruce Springsteen tours Australia.

Which will probably be never, after the promoter screwed up the last tour.

They apprently replaced Radiohead with coldplay....theres a horrible tradeoff.
I have like 4 bootlegs labeled as being from that show, but as far as i can tell, they are all fake.
Good ones though.

I'll be in the tent for the Chemical Brothers during coldplay's set, but I'm much more excited about night two, and seeing Nine Inch Nails for the first time in five years.

excited for:
BR-549 - this weekend
Keane and The Zutons - soon
Goldfinger - I have seen them every tour since their first album, it would be really hard to miss them this time

And I might have to drive to Chicago for U2, I would really liek to catch this tour.

I live in St Louis, NOONE comes here, so anytime there is a band I even sort of like, I go.

Have you heard the album? I can't find it anywhere. I may have to break down and order it. (If, y'know, I ever end up with some money.)

They're getting a goodly ammount of play on my local college radio station (circa 3:30 AM, mind you) and I've reallyreally liked what I heard.

And their site seems to indicate that *they* think they're a better live band than studio.

I downloaded it a month or so ago. It's interesting stuff.

I just watched the Arcade Fire on Conan, and if they ever come near here I have to see them. Two of the members wear helmets and beat on each other with drum sticks! One of the sticks flew and hit the guitarist in the head as he was singing. They look like they'd put on a really good show.

O.A.R. is going to be in Philly the beginning of April. Right now that's the only show I've got coming up, other than Flogging Molly in March.

I saw O.A.R. last summer, and they were amazing. Lots of energy, and they just rock out for almost every single song. 4 minute songs become 8 minute jam sessions. It's great.

Flogging Molly, I've never seen before, but have heard that they put on great live shows.

Dude.

Go!

Just got back.

And that was a goddamn motherfucking *a*-mazing show!

All kinds a weird instruments, like a mouth-keyboard and *TWO* frickin' xylophones, and just an insane level of energy all through. If one of 'em wasn't beatin' the shit outta their instrument he was doing a weird pogo dance and screaming. One of the two or three most *UP* live bands I've ever seen. Just non-stop Go! Go! Go! With weird percussion and strange noises and whoops and screams and, like, every now and then just a little bit of a tune you might recognize. Like I swear I heard a bit of a Beatles song burble up from the depths of cacophony in their opening number.

Might have been the best club show I've ever seen. Woulda been the best club show I've ever seen if they did two sets and cut out the crappy openers.

Man, I *so* wanna head to Cleveland tomorrow. But I got no gas money and work and class.

The Pimps are playing a show in town this Saturday night. They're not a big band or anything...I think the biggest thing they've done is the "Mission Impossible" theme on the MI2 soundtrack. They're a really good band, though, and every one of their shows I've been to has been excellent. I haven't seen them in a couple years and can't wait for it.

On a bigger scale, I'm still trying to find a way to go to Minneapolis to see Slipknot in a couple months. I'm hoping I can afford it, but I just don't have the cash for stuff like that anymore. Not to mention I don't like going to shows in big arenas...I much prefer the smaller venues.

Aesop Rock is not human. He's just not. He's some kind of machine or something. I thought my legs were going to give out before dude's lungs would.

There were wayyyy too many artists in the venue. All of them good, but damn.

Cage held down his set...much much MUCH better than when I saw him live in 2001.

Full line up was:

Hanger 18

C-Rayz Walz (and his friend, a little help from Rob Sonic)

Cage (with Yak Ballz, and some singing guy at the end)

Aesop Rock and Mr Lif with DJ Big Wiz. Also cameo appearance from the guy from X-Clan...who I think forgot what he was trying to say...and his bodyguard was pretty scary...motioned Aesop to shut up while the guy was [attempting to] perform...ANYway...

Aesop Rock's now officially a member of Cage's underground supergroup The Weathermen. Music for Earthworms to the Worm King's disciple.

It was a strong, strong show people...If you get a chance to see Bazooka Tooth live, I strongly recommend catching the show.

So far it's looking like Sabbath and Iron Maiden will be headlining Ozzfest, and Ozzy might even play a set with his other band (Zakk, etc). The rest of the lineup is looking pretty decent too.

New York Dolls - Sept. 1. Saw them a cuple weeks ago and they were great. I was a little surprised, given how long it's been since they made their two classic albums and that there's only two guys left, Johanson and Sylvain; but it was one of the best shows I;ve seen. They played almost all of the first album, although, since I love every song so much I was sorry they didn't play absolutely everything (they left out Bad Girl & Frankenstein, and I think Vietnamese Baby). Can't remember everything they played from Too Much Too Soon, but they did leave out There's Gonna Be A Showdown and Don't You Start Me Talkin, which I'd hoped to hear. But anyway, the show was amazing, the sound was perfect, not too loud, and I was able to get pretty close to the stage since the crowd wasn't enormous.

Nailed every song, and as ugly and decrepit as David Johansen is, he still looks like a rock star.

It isn't that strange to ask. I bought the Heart - Alive in Seatlle dvd and noticed the seats in front of the stage. With really big concerts (for Dutch standards) there are seats, usually in the back of the hall or wherever the concert is.....sometimes on the side, depending where the concert is and everything. But never ever directly in front of the stage, that really looks and sounds odd to me because I'm not used to it. Personally I really hate to be on a seat during a concert. Because I'm in the back...like I said....and because I just don't like a seat at a concert.

Psyched that Radiohead is touring this summer and will see them.

I'm hoping that Bauhaus might do a club date around here while they're on tour with NIN.

Not only that, but The Black Keys are opening for Radiohead, I am almost more excited for that !

I am going to see Darol Anger's Republic of Strings tonight, I am very excited, 2 Violins, Cello and Guitar, 100% acoustic.

Check them out here: http://www.darolanger.com/republicofstrings.html

Pearl Jam & Tom Petty together in one show in Milwaukee on June 29th.

I was clever enough to join Petty's fan club so I could get my tickets before they actually go on sale tomorrow.

Going to see Pearl Jam in DC in a couple of weeks and then to see them in Amsterdam with early entry tix to the GA show!

Also 4th row to NIN, but I'm definitely most excited about Pearl Jam!!

It'd be nice if they would ever actually do a real "tour"... last time they played NA, they just played California, right?

Now they're doing all these multiple day stops in just a few cities. So annoying.

The Black Keys - Rubber Factory is my favorite album of the last 5 years at least. 2 guys, 1 playing guitar and 1 playing drums, and they are just doing a garagey style of the blues, its fantastic.

The first week of September, I'll be seeing a Queens of the Stone Age show and a Velvet Revolver concert.

And I just found out that I'll be seein' Silverchair on Saturday night. Tried to get tickets before, but I was too late. Now my buddy Sid came through with a ticket 'cause some chick who was planning to go with him bailed at the last minute.

Her loss.

Any idea if Powderfinger (another great Aussie band) will be on the bill as well? They're doing a tour together down here right now.

I think I am only going to one day of Lollapalooza.

Either Friday: The Fratellis, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Polyphonic Spree, Sparklehorse, G. Love, The Black Keys, and then Ben Harper

or Saturday: Pete Yorn, Silverchair, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, The Hold Steady, Snow Patrol, Spoon, and then either Muse or Interpol.

or even Sunday: but thats only Amy Winehouse, Kings of Leon, and Modest Mouse.

I will probably do Saturday because of Hold Steady.

Some friends (read: old co-workers) and I got tickets to the Cure show in Philly on September 21. We didn't get as good seats as I'd have liked, but I'm still psyched. Two of my old co-workers are bringing their kids (both college freshmen I believe) so it'll be...different.

First I'm going to Boston to see The National and hopefully Blitzen Trapper (my brother hasn't said if he got them or not).

Later in the month I'm going to see Jens Lekman at Webster Hall.

And today I just scored two Orchestra Level seats at the Beacon to see PJ Harvey (first time I've seen in her in six years).

Just bought tickets today ($20 each before Ticketmaster raped me) to go to my radio stations annual "Freakers Ball" which is held next month.

The Cult
Drowning Pool
StoneSour
Black Light Burns
and a band that will win a KC metal contest here

I'm waiting for my girlfriend to decide whether she wants to go to this (none of the bands she likes) or if she wants to go see Puddle of Mudd/Saliva. If she wants to go see them, I'll get tickets for that and take her brother to Freakers Ball.

Or she may wanna go to both...
