"to foster continued conflict and debate among the Avengers and the X-Men — and among readers, as well."

If only this could be done without creating dicks of Avengers, X-Men, and fans alike. :frown:

So, Dooms motivations were purely to use Wanda's power, once Doom cranked her power levels up to Life Force levels. And Wanda never learnt that messing with Doom will get you screwed? I suppose she was desperate to get her kids back, once Wasp, with her big mouth, reminded Wanda she had two children. But how does that translate into falling in love with Victor? Sure, go to the mad despot and upgrade your power levels, but then canoodle with the mad despot? She is crazier than I thought.

maybe he hypnotized her. he's done it before. he also forced himself on a peasant girl. so who knows what else he's capable of?

Yep, here's Brian Conin's thoughts on it (http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2012/03/08/i-love-ya-but-youre-strange-that-time-dr-doom-tried-to-force-himself-on-a-peasant-girl/). Ah, the Silver Age.

It's a Steve Englehart story, who also wrote the Luke Cage / Doom encounter. Need I say more? He never really liked the character. His Fantastic Four run was one of the worst also.

When he was brought in it was to be a part of the Future Foundation and it was part of the bargain he made with Valeria. He had still been experiencing some brain damage from being zapped by some of his one re-engineered Liddleville tech in Fall of the Hulks.

Nathaniel knew that they needed to buy more time in the fight against the 4 Mad Celestials and he was chosen for that reason.

All hope lies in Doom

Regardless of what Heinberg says, I hope he never comes back to Marvel. This was a weak mini that could have been so much more then what it was.

The worst thing about this interview was Heinberg hinting he'd come back to comics. I loved the original Young Avengers (and didn't hate Children's Crusade) but him wanting to return to his characters is what kept the Young Avengers in limbo for so long.

i think both Cyclops and Iron Man were dicks already without Heinburgs involvment

Heinberg: Cassie's death was foreshadowed as early as Crusade #2. Her objective was always to bend or break the rules of time and space to bring her father back from the dead. The Vision and Kate each warned her that there would be a price to pay if she succeeded. And her death was the ultimate price.

I love Cassie — and I'm not a big fan of killing comic book characters in general — but it felt to all of us that there had to be high-stakes — and even tragic — consequences to the kids' actions. Just as Wanda's actions had tragic consequences. To me, that felt very much like the lesson the kids had to learn from Crusade. No matter how noble your intentions, the life of a super-hero comes with huge costs and consequences.

The more I look at it, the more I agree with it. There are usually consequences to messing with time in these types of stories.

Well, she had lost her memory at that point. So the amnesiac was in love with Doom and then he manipulated that (coupled with her crazy).

In that case, Doom was basically taking advantage of Wanda, (in a sexual way as well), if she had lost her memory, and didn't know what Doom was up too, (much like Clint Barton did). [And now I don't know where I was going with that, because now it seems irrelevant].

But you have to wonder, what Doom knew about Wanda Maximoff going crazy in the first place? Did Dooms memories survive HoM, so like Wolvy, knew that all the mutants were depowered, and by whom? If so, Doom has a pretty strong hold of the magic to be able to sift through all the Life Force influence and come out the other side. Then Doom what? Waited till after Fear Itself to go and find Wanda? Why the delay? Doom got his memory back, (in FF #2), just before FI by my reckoning.

Maybe next time they work together, he and Jim Cheung can manage to be professionals and know how to meet a deadline.

I don't care how good the writing or art is, missing as many shipping dates as this did is unacceptable...which is unfortunate because I actually really liked the mini.

Either that or try to get Marvel to hold back the "guess what's coming!!!!!" marketing reigns a little bit until they have a good amount of issues in the can.
