View Full Version : Grayson & Drake in an ongoing title?

I have always found Dick and Tim to be a winning combination and a welcome change from the Batman and Robin stories as their dynamic as brothers from a different mother so to speak is so different from "I'm Batman and it's my way with no exceptions." So...would a book featuring these two working together as a team be of interest? I can easily see a variety of different stories emerging and also their past/present connections to the Teen Titans would make it worthwhile for other DC Universe characters to make appearances here.

As I have little interest in Damien, I would be interested in a title for ex-Robins to make their own way and creating their own dynamic outside of Batman and his sphere of influence.

Opinons good, bad and indifferent are welcomed!

I like both Dick and Tim and think they would work well together. I would be interested in this, or at least a mini.

I think I would prefer to see Tim get his own solo book back. Then that book could cross-over with the Nightwing book on occasion.

Personally I wouldn't be in favor of this as an ongoing. Give me a Dick and Damian book or a Steph and Damian book, characters who can play off each other a little more.

I think a team up now and than is great, but I don't think Tim and Dick's dynamic is meaty enough for a long term solo of just those two. Dick's more of the free spirited, swashbuckling, acrobatic, quintessential hero type. Tim's more your typical vanilla gadget based street level modern day hero type. I don't think its a great dynamic to base a team around.

*remembers rumour of the Robins book, and en masse squeeing*

I believe this would be of interest to many. Of course, Dick and Tim get on very well with little dramatic potential without, say, one of them banging the others girlfriend. And writers just love the drama. I would prefer a Robins book, a dedicated Batfamily team up book, an extra fun and light book for the Bat line or any number of things, but I would still buy this. For the first arc at least.

I always loved when Tim and Dick crossed over into the other's book and wished it had happened more often. I liked the way they played off each other as brothers and hope to see some of that in the Nu Universe, but fear that may fall by the way side to squeeze in Damian more. As for a buddy book...I think it would sell (I would certainly buy it) but I think I would prefer a Tim solo series with regular guesting by his big brother in and out of costume.

Grayson & Drake in an ongoing title?

No. But Cain and Brown in an ongoing for sure.

I would buy a team up between the boys. I've always enjoyed the stories where they worked together in the past.

I agree. I think the bat boys have enough books already.

I think Dick and Tim can interact enough without having a title specifically for that.

I'm kind of against it as i rather see a character or team who hasnt had a series/on-going yet to get one rather than give a second to a charracter that already has one.

plus i'd rather just give tim his own ongoing.

I'd read it, but it's not top of my list. I'd rather see Dick and Damien (replace B&R with this) or Tim and Cass Cain (brand new ongoing).

Take my money!

Also, Damian frequently appearing in Nightwing.

How about a Nightwing and Cyborg team-up mini.

That would be nice, considering that Bruce has stated (I don't remember when) that Dick could be a better fighter than him and Tim could be a better detective. So they would pretty much complete each other.

I'd enjoy this: BATMAN: PRODIGAL was one of my favorite storylines of the 1990s.

People sometimes forget that Bruce's two "good sons" are quite a dynamic duo themselves.

Thanks to everyone who has chosen to comment and everyone's opinion has merit and is worthwhile.

My thought in creating this thread is that both Grayson and Drake have a solid fan base and when they have interacted, it has always been interesting to me. I will certainly not forget a very early appearance of Tim even before he put on the Robin uniform, when he was trying to slip out of Dick's grasp by flipping him. Dick replied in his thought with "he's good, but I'm good too" and instead flipped Tim onto the ground. The sibling rivalry and friendship was cemented right there for me and I think that much can be told from their perspectives. After all, living in Wayne Manor is one thing, but dealing with Batman 24/7 is something that has been very rarely touched on. The last time I remember is when Dick was seeing a therapist and only "alluding" to the difficulty his life was due to THAT upbringing. Who can forget "I've been to Hell and through Hell because of him!" That alone should be a multi-episode arc.

Keep the comments coming!

I just want a series with Tim where he isn't surrounded by characters that aren't even half as interesting as him...

I mean the other characters are nice and all, but let's be honest, Tim Drake is more ...awesome.

How about a Nightwing and Cyborg team-up mini.

I'm thinking Cyborg is gonna get a solo mini soon at the least, maybe an ongoing. I daresay Nightwing and Cyborg teaming up will be pleasing to many.

I want to see how Cyborg being in the JL works out before any team ups with Nightwing xD

Being honest, I ditched TT cos I thought Cassie was the only interesting character. And Tim is arguably the dullest person on the entire team. I don't dislike the character, I picked up his Robin series for a while, pre OYL. But in TT, there's just nothing to him.

I think it might not happen. DC is pushing Cyborg to the big leagues so he will probably stay there, get a solo, get his own city and then play a major role in the Justice League event (that I've heard rumors of) soon to come.

I'd rather see Tim with a solo title again myself. I've enjoyed his solo titles in the past far more and find his character to be far more interesting away from a group setting like TT. I won't say no to Tim working with the other Batboys or even a mini featuring him working with any or all of them though. The dynamics between the brothers could be very interesting.

I'm a Tim Drake fanboy, and someone like liking Cassie more then Tim is nonsese.

No way someone can be believe Cassie of all people is more interesting then him....@_@

Do want more Dick and Jason interaction. They were always like polar opposites in my mind. The one Batman raised perfectly and the one he "failed" on.
