It has been for me so far. I'm following Prophet, Fatale, and Bulletproof Coffin and I'm looking forward to Black Kiss 2. Keep flying your freak flag Image.

Yes. Yes it is. #100s of Walking Dead, Invincible (I'm assuming, might be early '13 tho) and Darkness, a shit ton of excellent new series, the first Image Expo.
Image is easily the best publisher doing books today.

Morning Glories, Saga, Mind The Gap.... Well it certainly looks like the year that I'm going to be reading the most Image comics.

I need to start reading Image, but I have no idea where to start.
Just the books that have started in the past 6 months or so:
Fatale
Prophet
The Manhattan Projects
Mind the Gap (the preview just came out, the ongoing starts in May, IIRC)
Near Death
Thief of Thieves
Saga comes out on Wednesday
A lot of them are getting 2nd prints the day the next issue ships, so it's easier to grab them in print.
Try Skullkickers on Keenspot if you aren't already reading it. They've got a ton of other Image comics being serialized daily there as well, but SK is the gem of the bunch, IMO. The monthly SK comic is quite a bit ahead of the digital strip, so if you like it, there's plenty of new material to enjoy, as well as links to buy single issues on omixology or trades from Amazon on each day's page.
This isn't from Image, but if you like Skullkickers or other fun fantasy stuff, try IDW's Dungeons & Dragons comic too. It's probably one of the funniest team comic since the 80s run of the JLI. I don't know if the entire run is on Comixology, but it's only up to about #15 now.
Other Image books to check out:
Morning Glories
Chew
Walking Dead & Invincible

Image has been putting out some of the best comics available for a while now, what will constitute Image having its own year? bumping up its sale towards DC/Marvel levels?

It's really been amazing watching Image Comics over the last couple years, to see them grow and tailor their line to add some of the best books in years while simultaneously watching DC gut Vertigo and now try to rebuild.

The top cow universe just did a "rebirth" which is a great jump on point for their comics if you like the supernatural horror genre. Artifacts #14 darkness 101 and witchblade 151.

I dunno, I'm really liking the new Vertigo relaunch, especially Saucer Country.
