Hey. Well, up until recently I've had no interest in reading DC Comics, or any comics, really (I read Ultimate Spiderman and Ultimate X-Men, and that's it). I love DC (And Marvel) Universe and their characters though, and have watched every episode of every DC/Marvel cartoon in the past 12 years, and every animated and non-animated movie. It's just kind of hard for me to jump into something with years, even decades of backstory.

SOOOO! I thought maybe I'd try reading these. Problem is, there are still 52 of them, and I don't have the bread to dish out for all of them. In all of the cartoons/movies I saw, I remember being partial to Everyone on Teen Titans (Including Terra), Super Boy, Zatanna, Black Canary, Green Arrow, Super Girl, The Bat Family, Static Shock, Blue Beetle, Wondergirl, Power Girl, and the Green Lanterns. I like nearly every hero, but these ones are the ones who are standing out (at the moment). Could tell me which ones have these characters in them, thank you.

Also, in the comcis you suggest, could you tell me how much story carries over from the last issues? Like, before the new 52?

For the Teen Titans characters, check out Teen Titans, just be aware that not all the characters you are familiar with are in it. Cyborg is in Justice League, btw.

Superboy has his own ongoing.

Zatanna is in Justice League Dark.

Black Canary is in Birds of Prey.

Green Arrow has his own ongoing.

Supergirl has her own ongoing.

For the Bat-Family, you basically got:
1. Batman
2. Detective Comics
3. Batman: The Dark Knight
4. Batman and Robin
5. Catwoman
6. Batgirl
7. Batwoman
8. Red Hood and the Outlaws
9. Nightwing
10. Batwing
Choose whichever of those sound interesting to you.

Static Shock has his own ongoing, but it's ending with issue #8.

Blue Beetle has his own ongoing.

Wonder girl is in Teen Titans.

Power Girl is getting a spot in Worlds' Finest starting in May.

For the Green Lanterns, you have:
1. Green Lantern
2. Green Lantern Corps
3. Green Lantern: New Guardians
4. Red Lanterns
Choose whichever sounds interesting to you.

Well, that's all the characters you mentioned.

I definitely recommend you try Teen Titans and Super Boy, and if you catch up by May, pick up the first annual issue and the spinoff, The Ravengers, which features Beast Boy(a different type than the one you know) and Terra(another different type).

Superboy and Teen Titans would definitely be a good place to look, especially if you're coming from Marvel.

If you are set on reading those characters I'd say the only worthwhile books to buy would be Batman, Batwoman and JL Dark (for Zatanna). And maybe Batman & Robin and Green Lantern. The rest are pretty darn bad.

Definitely recommend Blue Beetle, Batman, & Green Lantern: New Guardians.

Other Great titles are Teen Titans, Superboy, and there will be a girl named Terra in the upcoming Ravagers in May.

And while it's not part of the DCnU / "New 52" line of DC, there's a related comic book that's based on the current Young Justice animated series:

I haven't read anything that relies on a lot of prior knowledge before the relaunch so you don't need to worry about that.
