i couldn't think of how to ask it but maybe an example would help. there are mutants that Xavier was in contact before and during the creation of his X-Men. i think it's interesting that he chose some to be affiliated with his school and sent others off to be 'secret agents.'
Sage (sent to infiltrate the Hellfire Club)
Changeling (i'm not sure if he was working for Xavier as a member of Factor 3 or just decided to reform afterwards)
Shortpack (i hadn't seen him before the mystique series)
Banshee (i'm guessing on this one. i know that he was contacted by Magneto before becoming an X-Man but had he also known Xavier?)
there any others you can think of?

Artie4 and Leech, Xavier is a cruel man for not letting them back in the school

He also rejected the last group of Acolytes seen in the Magneto War. They had been following Cortez in an attack on the X-Men, when Cortez saw that he was losing...he ran off, abandoning his team like the coward that he is. They asked him to forgive them and for asylum, but he said no. This was a little after Onslaught and all....so he was a little "testy". Some of the members included: Barnacle, Static(II), Rem-Ram, and others.

WHen vaugh was writing mystique it was freakin awesome. Now that mekeever is writing it it frekin sucks.
Xavier trained Sage when he founded the original X-Men; therefore, she was still working for Xavier in secret, although none of the X-Men were aware of Xavier's plan for Sage.
Xavier also kept Muir Island & Dr. Moira MacTaggert a secret from most of the X-Men save Jean Grey. Scott was mad at Xavier that he kept a whole island a "secret" from the X-Men. Also, for a short time, Moira MacTaggert was Xavier's "maid" when she certainly never acted like one the whole time she was at the mansion.

i remember that. i think it might have had ulterior motives for doing that. he wanted the remaining Acolytes to lead them to Magneto. he knew they'd go back to him after being rejected. but, yeah, Xavier was pretty testy in that issue.

ahh. i didn't know about Moira. i think it's weird that she'd go along w/ the 'maid' act given their past relationship and her being royalty. oh well. Xavier was one shady individual though if all the retcons are to be believed. here, i thought that Cyclops was his first student and he was hiding the existence of others. then there's that nurse Amelia Voght. she was there, in the mansion, before Scott as well.

Voght was his girlfriend before forming the X-Men.
Legion he kept a secret from the original X group.

i'm winging it here but neither writer gave his background. apparently, Xavier has field operatives. some of these operatives have Shortpack as their field handler. he's like a supervisor and the operative's link to Xavier. he's also a mutant who started shrinking, uncontrollably, at puberty. Xavier taught him mental excercises that kept him from shrinking to nothing. that's why he's trapped at his present height (six inches or so). Shortpack, whose real name has never been revealed, is also a short-range telepath.
P.S. Shortpack's also an extreme pacifist, which makes him an odd choice as Mystique's field handler.

Legion he kept a secret from the original X group.
Xavier was not aware he had a son. She kept is a secret from Xavier because of his responsilibities with his school & the X-Men. Xavier only realized Legion was his biological son when Xavier projected his astral self in Legion's mind to save his students & Legion himself.
Xavier learned Legion was his biological son when he rescued the New Mutants from Legion's multiple personalities, Cindy (pyrokinetic) & Jack Wayne (telekinetic). Legion was also autistic due to his mutant powers manifesting before his mind was ready to cope with them.

i'm thinking more of mutants who actually worked for Xavier outside of the Xmen.

he had a relationship with maverick/david nord, became a new warrior, and from what i heard impersonated maverick in weapon x and died. i dont remember reading anything about chris attending xaiver's institute.

Banshee (i'm guessing on this one. i know that he was contacted by Magneto before becoming an X-Man but had he also known Xavier?)
This was never really discussed. Banshee, when he was a rogue Interpol agent, was being used by Magneto to hunt Arkady. Banshee never knew who this man was, and it never has mentioned if later he did discover that was Magneto.
My theroy on this is that Magneto discovered Banshee himself, and never logged that with Xavier. Or, perhaps, since Banshee was already an adult when Xavier started contacting mutants, he just filed Banshee away and Magneto dug out the info later.

Chris was at the x-mansion for a short time before they discovered that he had the legacy virus. i think that's when he left. he had become good friends with Ice Man while there.

I think another punch to Xavier's image in the form of a team of mutants Xavier turned away would be interesting. Not sure whether or not in this idea if he trains them and then kicks them out or just denies them at the door.
...
*ponders*
I hope I'm not the only one who'd find that interesting.

In Cha Cha Charlie's defense, Bolt withdrew himself due to having the Legacy Virus. The Acolytes were not accepted because at the time Xavier knew that one of the X-Men was an imposter (Skrullverine) and was trying to figure out who. having extra people around would have made keeping mental tabs on everyone more difficult.

The first time it was offered to her, the second time they we're looking for political asylum, and we're turned away.

If I remember correctly, they wouldn't even return Ricochet's phonecall.

Scanner wasn't among the Acolytes seraching for asylum, she was with Cargill, Unuscione, and the Kleinstocks as they survived the Australian Outback. And as soon as they returned, Cyclops (probably under orders from Xavier) handed them over to the authorities, though they did go willingly. Scanner felt that Xavier should've given her a second chance after that, which he never did.
But she was never offered a place in the X-Mansion.

Wondering if Ricochet could be possibly ordered to the Institute by O*N*E.
Also wondering when the X-Me will consider some of the non-villain 198 as potential members.

If I was Xavier. I would have allowed Neophyte because he was a hero right? I'm curious, why were Cloak and Dagger offered admission to Xavier's? I mean they aren't mutants or are they considered mutants. As the drugs they were injected with activated latent mutant powers. If so, then why is Spider-Man considered a non-mutant hero.
